Re: Palpatine Image Thread

Glad you folks have enjoyed the photos as much as I have enjoyed taking them and showing them to you.

Here are both Palpatine and Sidious, separated, with the digital alterations being limited to that which is obvious (e.g., the "glowy" effect, the background, and the figures' shadows).

No other changes to the figures were made. :) (Well, also aside from resolution degradation for the sake of easier downloading/viewing.)

Re: Palpatine Image Thread

Well, can't compete with the pros here, but I'll throw my out-of-the-box pic into the mix:

So far I am very impressed, but I can't help wondering how much more fun Sidious would have been with a maniacal toothy grin...

Re: Palpatine Image Thread

Well got them a couple hours ago, now some quick pics. Overall some great figures. Pictures do not do them justice. While the heads a big, they have all the detail and looks just like the actor. The cloth choices were spot on. Though I do wish they would have used a hook clasp on Sidious robe instead of ****ty velcro, that is some medycom crap there. The gold paint on the sabers are not good. The silver bled through too much. Oh well, on with the pics.

Well I'm sure the time and care any custom painter can put in will outshine a factory worker, but some pictures indicate the paint job is less flat than it appears in the image you referenced as well.

Re: Palpatine Image Thread

Really nice pictures! But I'm so curious, how did you get Palps neck to look so long, long enough the pull the material up thru his collar? Did you use topstick on the shoulders to hold the material down? Did you pull the sculpt up a bit on the plug? Please share.

Most other pics, including mine, Palps looks to have a very short neck.

Re: Palpatine Image Thread

Finally got my pics taken and will be getting them up very soon. I had about 10 things I had to take pics of today. :lol

I think the paint looks fine. Of course a custom painter who would get far more time to paint a figure over some 5 cent a hour jobber in china, is going to do a better job.

Still the best Sidious figure, period.

A side not, notice that his disfigurement made him lose his sideburns :lol

Re: Palpatine Image Thread

I'm very impressed, I'm hoping for a little luck. My P2 BD figure ended up a day early with Fed Ex, but it's going to my work so it still won't be delivered until Monday, but maybe with a little luck, this set will be ahead to and come Monday too instead of Tuesday, very eager to work with them :D

Re: Palpatine Image Thread

I just got mine and I love them!! I cannot wait to paint these up.

The detail work in the face is there, it's just so minute, and the paint apps, while fine, don't really bring out the detail.

I've got a couple of commissions I need to finish up, but then I'm going straight into painting Palps and Sid. I am so jazzed!

Re: Palpatine Image Thread

Mine just arrived, and even more impressive FedEx actually delivered on time?!?

Have to say, really excellent figures. Paint work is solid, not the greatest... but I think it works well with the sculpt. In hand you can really see a lot of fine detail on the face... definitely some great work from Oluf. Clothes are nice too, overall very impressive figures and certainly some of the best we've seen. Not quite Old Ben caliber... but honestly I think Old Ben is just a little more interesting to begin with.

And in keeping with EF's observations on the sideburns... his nails sure grew a lot too :huh

Can't wait for the Emporer :emperor:emperor

Re: Palpatine Image Thread

Quick question... are the left hands for Palpatine the same? They look identical to me... I was wondering if I got a mistake?

Re: Palpatine Image Thread

I looked on the website... and the production hands look really similar. So, I guess its right.

EDIT Upon further inspection I noticed that they are different in person, on one the pointer figure is up higher than the rest of the fingers, on the other it looks like the index is the highest finger. Not really the most thrilling of hand variations :lol I would have preferred a gripping hand instead.

Re: Palpatine Image Thread

Could someone tell me where the stand for the Senate Cam Driod is packaged? I think SS may have forgotten to include it in my box. I don't see how I could have missed it.

It is in the other figures blister package. :D
