That sounds interesting. I guess different poses would be the best way to make a 1/6 horse. Joints always stand out like a sore thumb on horses and other animals. And the ability to chose a saddle is a great solution. DID sounds like they're aware of the collecting community's desire for horses on every level.
I hope they have some planned in very active battle poses!

Guys I can custom paint and custom hair Johnny West horses blind folded (I'm in the arts). The problem still remains, the size. It's just not big enough and yes the Dragon horses are, well, nearly Clydesdale size. Just too big. The one I purchased was a complete ebay surprise. It usually goes for $300.00. Just too much. Got it for about $100 even. Someone out there if you're listening make horses (reasonably) and they will come. Come on sculptors do something.

Wow! That Dragon horse is BIG.

Guess nobody recognizes the horse Lee is on in the snowy photo above?

That horse Lee is on in the snowy photo was custom painted by Kirby Jonas. The horse itself is one of those big resin horses made in China somewhere. They are no longer in production. Here's a LINK to Kirby's custom horse page on his website:

The Appaloosa horse in the photo with Grant is also a custom horse painted by Kirby Jonas. Ben's Custom Tack just used it for modeling his saddles. His daughter Barbara Perry has taken over the business since her father Ben passed away. The saddles are still in production, and are beautiful!

Sorry, but if you're wanting original sculpted horses CHEAP...it just isn't going to happen. Artists that involve long, frustrating hours sculpting horses in 1:6 scale are usually going to get around $300 (at least) for their time and effort. And that's UNPAINTED.

Breyer makes some nice model horses, but they don't produce 1:6 scale. The largest horse they produce is 1:9 scale. There are NOT many Artists that sculpt in 1:6 scale either. I only know of two. LINKS below if you wish to contact them. Good luck!! :) Diane

If you want CHEAP, then the best thing to do is buy MARX horses on Ebay that need LOTS of TLC, and customize them yourself, or find an artist that is willing to customize them for you.

My opinion, but I think the Dragon "Blitz" and other Dragon horses, plus the POWER TEAM horses are UGLY. And those furry horses look like RATS... I've seen them with their fur peeled off. YUK!! Hard to believe that under all that fur, they look that bad and cheaply made.

Believe me, if you want to spend $300, get yourself a NICE quality made, original sculpted resin horse. You'll SO not regret it. Especially compared to those ugly, cheaply made foreign "horses"...

Hi guys, I usally hang out at the 6th brigade, but was just visiting, The horse that General Lee is on is one from the Leonardo Collection from England, you can find them on E-bay sometimes, (be careful they come in different sizes,
I hope this helps
Thanks,
Mike

The LEONARDO COLLECTION horses are usually much smaller than 1:6 scale. Although that horse you mentioned is 1:6 scale, it looks like a Leonardo Collection horse, but is produced in China, NOT in the UK (Britain) where the Leonardo Collection horses are produced. The China made horses are out of production.

I ordered one too -- thanks for the heads-up, Rabbit.

My first Marx horse is undergoing surgery now...I dissolved the glue and split it apart and am filling it with Durham's to give it "heft." After sealing with expanding Gorilla Glue I will repaint, and perhaps replace the tail and mane with hair.

Any advice out there on where to find hair for the tail and mane?

The very BEST thing you can use for "hairing" horses mane & tails is MOHAIR. You can find it on Ebay. It is the most realistic thing to use, and most sculptors and equine artists use it.

I got a horse for you.

it's amazing.
