First time I was in a custom run. I like the figure, but to be frank, it is more a 250 than a 750 figure. Customs eh. The armor is nice and the weapons.
I don't really like the material for the "leather" parts of the armor and straps for the shin protection and shield.
The hands are...okay. I think even the two added with more "grip" for the sword is not really great and I have a hard time him holding the sword, but will fiddle around a bit more.

Otherwise cool figure and nice in any serious Lotr collection :)

Mine arrived at last and I was so close to just putting it straight up on eBay without even opening the box but figured ‘what’s the harm in looking?’

This thing is as good as it is bad and I agree with the above that it’s far far closer to a $250 figure than the $750 asking price (plus an extra $30 to order from Kit.)

A third party could top this for a quarter the price. Asmus could have topped this in their first year of operating. The fact they still haven’t attempted an Uruk is what drove me to gamble on this run.

The material choice for the leather parts is too thin, especially considering it’s required to hold the shin guards in place- and the straps are glued to the shoes, which means you can’t turn the feet without ripping them clean off. Fortunately, mine were torn fresh out of the box- so plenty of foot articulation for me…

The inaccuracies are plentiful, lazy choices were made, the ragged cuts on the fabric are cartoonish, the staining of the phicen is easily damaged/removed, the gripping hands are lacking detail and not fit for purpose, the feet don’t support the weight of the body.

My experience was also dampened by the figure falling over the second I looked away from it and crashing to the ground, shattering the port on the left foot and tearing the entire shinguard off the leg so that foot is now fixed to the body with blue tax.

For the pros, the sculpted weapons and armour looks pretty good and are painted well. They are quite brittle though so I’d prefer a more durable material.

The head overall is decent. It’s painted pretty well and the hair work is good enough- a little rough around the hairline and needs to be proofed up where it’s tied for a more accurate look. That neck seem is an eyesore so, as with the figure as a whole, you need to pose it in a way that hides the inadequacies.

I’ve basically landed on exactly what the SSC Premium and sweat Classic statue did.

Oh, I bought a base that can pass for Amon Hen ages ago which really helps sell this piece, and is especially helpful since mine will now never stand unassisted.

Yes, it looks good here after a ton of finessing, but I get no joy from handling it. Any part could break at any point.

I’ve kept my Weta statue in the box until I could decide which Lurtz will join my display; since I’ve broken this stupid thing I guess I have to keep it.
You never know, it might look quite good paired with InArt Aragorn whenever I have time to open one of those.

Sorry to hear the issues with this piece.

Still, looks pretty good in your photo once posed for display. I can understand the frustration when looking at it though.

How tall is the figure? I'm curious if he'll truly be a head taller than Aragorn...

Move Lurtz is 6’4” next to Aragorn’s 5’11”.

My figure has the neck fully tilted forwards and is waking so he might just make 31cms at full height if we’re generous. The hair adds a little extra.

Essentially, he about 6’1”
Marginally taller than Aragorn but not the monster he should be.

Not quite up to snuff and he’ll be dwarfed by the Weta Helm’s Deep Uruk Swordsman statue. That thing is huge.

Lurtz has arrived in France too. I was a little bit worried because of some previous photos, but he still looked great in Chopper face's photos...
At first, I must admit I was a bit disappointed. The face is great but the neck seam is obvious, the chest armor is inacurate but we already knew it. The leather material is cut with strange patterns (and can't handle sandpaper to make it look more natural). The wrist pegs are really hard to make them hold. And there was a small buckle laking on the left shoe. And the overall look is a bit flat out of the box (I will later understand that's because every piece of cloth is glued one to another)
That's for the negatives.
So I began with making a more accurate chest armor, and I de-glued every piece of cloth so I can lower the belt and give the leather pieces a more natural look. I had to cut, fold, bend, and reposition the metal parts of the armor, and I took a piece of cloth on the back to complete the chest armor. I also gave the hair a black wash.
Once done, and the head properly pushed all way down on the neck, I must admit it is superb. The figure has incredible presence, and is larger and taller than Inart's Aragorn. The size is perfect to me (I didn't check the movie to make sure, but it seems good I mean).
It's a real pleasure to finally display Lurtz and Aragorn together. It was pricey but there is definitely a premium feel with this figure.
There are a few flaws, but what is most important to me is the overall look and general feeling with a figure when displayed, and on these points Alex did an amazing job.
:)

PS: on the photo with Aragorn, Lurtz has bended knees and seems smaller than he really is :)

And just like that, mine looks like crap!

Gonna have to do this over Christmas since I should be at home long enough to actually commit.

What leather material did you use?
I never know what stuff to get that’s thin enough to replicate 1/6 leather.

I used the leather of the figure, that's why there is a part missing on his back. ;)

I did wonder about that gap. Nice one and great work.

Would this really have been so hard for SC to do himself? The accuracy boost from such a simple change (using existing materials!!) is insane!

It took me about 45 minutes, but the "hard" part was preparing the work: deciding what to do, and how to do it. If I had to do it a second time it would take me less than 10 minutes. He surely could have done this easily, I don't know why he didn't.

Yikes!

Wow...if I would have seen this prior to me ordering their custom Last Action Hero Jack Slater I would have steered very clear.

Now I'm worried. 😬

:)
The fact he didn’t implement these simple changes and either didn’t pay enough attention to how he’d very clearly produced an inaccurate costume or simply didn’t care to strive for accuracy is why I’m never jumping on another SC run again.

The build quality of Lurtz in hand just vindicates that decision.
I’d have been all over his Peter Pan stuff if this was a home run.

I suppose there's something to be said about "delivering what is advertised"... but I doubt anyone would be against receiving a more accurate product in the end. The incorrect chest armor was mentioned during the PO period. I couple other things were mentioned. One was a "sword-gripping hand", which SC said it would add... was that delivered upon?

Sort of… a pair of somewhat cupping hands were provided although they can’t actually grip the sword as they’re far too open.

All 4 hands are incredibly basic and lacking in sculpted detail or paint. They’re 3D printed with crudely cut leather glued on to mimic a glove. The buckles are the highlight and most valuable aspect since that’s something I can’t make myself.
