1/6 Star Ace - Underworld Evolution - Selene Collectible Figure

Found it a few weeks ago while looking for Temple of Doom stills.

The thing with designing the box is that you can't use battle scene photos because Selene always has blue eyes during those scenes. Since we're not getting her with blue eyes it wouldn't be wise using photos depicting her as having such.

I guess it would be wise to stick with stuff like this:

Yes exactly, I cannot have her with her blue eyes and all the best shots I found have them.

I have back up idea if I cannot get decent imagery of her without the blue eyes.

Does anyone know the star ace guys. Can someone send them info on what fans feel? Am sure their team also don't want to push a sub par figure and suffer sales. Can someone pass on messages indicating - need for blue eyes, better outfit material. Etx. Improving just these two elements will go a long long way in better sales.

I hate that they swallowed the base as well.
That yoda figure - has an all new body, will be trickier on paint / color etx, and still has an awesome base at a far far better price than this.

We are all fine with the price but some stuff needs to be fixed and that base was probably the only other thing in addition to the sculpt that was making the figure look kick ass...

I'm sure they frequent the forum time and again, plus Dave has a pretty close relationship with the guys, I'm sure he has passed on what we've been talking about. I'm getting the figure regardless if changes are made or not but the one true change I would like to see if a more latex looking suit. Of course I'd want her with blue eyes as well but we know that will come if this version sells well enough.

Yes I hope so too. Cause I think all the fixes are minor asks. Eye color changes would be a very easy task. Also outfit (phichen) has proven that a good outfit can be made with a nice shiny material. The listed cost is quite high for this release even by recent hot toys standards and pulling back on that base was quite a slap
Hope someone is listening and making atleast the outfit and eyes changes.

I actually really like the headsculpt, all they need to do is tweak the eyes (excuse the bad photoshop but you get the point...)

Placed my pre-order for her last night as well. Looking forward to it !

However, just realized that Star Ace has a knack for double dipping.
Wouldn't be surprised if they issued another Selene within 6 months after release with Vampire look.

Steve McQueen got a double issue and all 3 Harry Potter kids got re-issues with civilian clothes. Wouldn't be surprised if this would be the case as well.

Changing the outfit is not a minor ask. Not even close. And any changes are large. They don't own the rights. It's a rental. So, depending on the contract, even a slight eye color change could result in thousands of dollars in cost (man hours, approvals, multiple prototypes for approval..anytime a prototype is submitted for approval there usually has to be multiples submitted to show consistency and have multiple people able to examine it. )

These things are not minor. And even if they changed it the result would probably be a wash as far as sales go.

Really? I think the eyes are the hardest part of painting a sculpt. They're an art form.

Having said that, people like Hunter do transfer eyes, so that's another way to go. Painting is better, but you have to be very talented to pull it off.

Eyes are the most difficult part when painting IMO...everything else could be fantastic, but if you screw up the eyes or they don't look real enough, it could take away from the likeness. It usually takes me about 3 hrs to paint one iris

i could live with or without the vampire style head sculpt (though i do prefer the vamp one), but the costume, the costume is what is stopping me. just doesn't do it for me at all. doesn't look right. i really hope they improve on the costume, if not it'll be a regrettable pass as i love this franchise!

As I stated back at NYCC time, the material for the costume was exhaustively explored and the best material that could be found was used to provide optimum look and articulation.

I'm not sure optimum look can be said about this figures clothing. Sorry but optimum look would be the latex look. After a few times posing the figure in various position the fabric they used is going to have creases, it'll look horrible.

and a latex material would have ripped over time too. its a lose/lose situation.
