How do Ujindou figures compare to Damtoys or Soldier Story?

Headsculpt looks like Willem Dafoe was stung by a bee, is this based on his character from Platoon?

Ujindou are a mixed bag. Tailoring is good but they sometimes get the colours wrong. Boots are normally very good. Sculpts are often smaller than normal, which means some caps won't fit heads from other companies.

Weapons are sometimes metal and wood, and at other times fragile plastic.

They're not as reliably good across the board as DID, Facepool or Alert Line, but with their WWII series they've tackled some interesting subjects and often provide multiple uniform options that I've used to put together other figures.

A Ujindou release can wow you, or leave you feeling disappointed. You just have to make a call based on the promo photos.

This a recent release, and apart from the boots is all from UD9039:

The remainder of the set went into putting together the Desert Rat on the right:

All the SAS/Commando figures on that shelf were built from older Ujindou sets.

The Marine on the left is all UD9040 apart from the head, which is on the figure on the right with the second uniform and belt:

This is one of my favourite sets, UD9031 First Special Service Force. I have two of them so swapped the BAR and belt on one for a Facepool M1 Carbine and belt. The original sculpts were actually really good, but I changed them to save them for other figures because I was looking for an excuse to use the shouting QOrange and Facepool's Tom Cruise.

I bought one Ujindou Vietnam War figure, UD9021, and regretted it. Not because it's a bad figure but because I realised I had no interest collecting that period.

I tried turning him into a Star Wars Rebel commando, then broke him down and used his body and head for another figure. The only other useful thing from the set was his M3A1 Grease gun with optional suppressor, which I'd already given to one of my WWII guys.

I use to have a lot of Nam seals, Marines, and Green Berets, but sold them all over the years. Mostly because of space and they were easy to move along. Lots of Dragon from what I remember. They were interesting at the time, but over the years my interest shifted away from that era. I did end up picking up the Mel Gibson DID figure though and that was a lot of fun putting together. Still need to weather that one up and post some pics.

I did the same with WWII having collected a lot of Dragon Models (DML) figures, before eventually selling them off because by then the bodies and sculpts were outdated compared to the Hot Toys movie figures I was buying.

I regret selling them as there were a lot of useful parts that could've been salvaged now that I'm back into WWII again. Dragon's weapons in particular were very good for the time, especially when they weren't using elastic for the straps. Their sculpted boots are still better than some of those being made today.
