Epic barryo! You've got a great eye for making random bits look super important and functional. Don't pull a Lucas though. Some tweaking is good, too much tweaking....bad. The beauty of the project is in its simplicity.

:thud::monkey2 (I wanna hug too.:rotfl)

i totally get what you are saying & am pretty much sticking to the plan of making the outside as close as possible to the original as i can with some minor exceptions.

oh &............:1-1:.................:lol

just simply wonderful, truly inspirational and motivating I love every update and looking to see if I can figure out what you have used and steal your genius!!!!

Love the little indoor cage... nice touch :duff

But Barryo, you gotta hurry dude if this is gonna make it under my tree in time for Xmas :lecture

thanks guys.

mark i spared no expense on those parts..........i think most of everything on there i found in the bottom of an old tool box or scattered about my garage............:lol

& joseph i'm trying like hell to get it done for ya'.......just need some helper elves.........:wink1:

no worries mark. like i've said before there is so much i need to do before i could even think about putting them on. so even if i had them in hand i couldnt use them yet.

Wow! As mentioned earlier, the detail on this is wonderful. I really like the inside caged part of your door, awesome stuff.

The control panels and interior look tremendous. Really well done. Great looking vehicle so far. Congrats! :D

WOWSERS.......................that looks pretty damn awesome mark.

gotta run to a quick meeting but with a grin.......:)

pm you in a bit as well.

I'll be honest , I wasn't entirely convinced by this project at first as I thought the design of the transport left a lot to be desired , but as the build has progressed I've found myself "swayed" to the cause ! Your build quality is top class and the latest pics have fully converted me . What in small scale appears "toy-like " ( I know , I'm not being ironic ) , in 1/6 is totally "Star Wars ". In short , fantastic stuff , a real labour of love , I can tell . Full marks Barryo , keep it up , can't wait to see it weathered and "troopered up " .:clap

thanks tg & i know exactly what you mean, hence the re-design & slowing down to make sure it's right. what i haven't posted is countless re-do's that i made. i did post a few of the major steps i took to alleviate some of the problems like scrapping the material due to it being too thin & the battery box being too tall. but i've really done a lot more revisions than that, but they were so mundane that i didnt care to post or even take pictures. but i am pouring my heart & soul to this custom & hope it turns out like i envision it can....

You gents have most likely thought of this already, but what if you put a hinge on the bottom of each side pod? Like this:

It always BUGGED me as a kid on how they got into those things! I think this makes more sense and makes them functional as well?

What do you think?

i like the idea.maybe they could be fixed by small magnets or something like that

yea that is close to the idea that i had thought of already, though mine was going to just have the whole thing come down. but in order to get the look of the doors with the curved lines all the way around that would be a pretty hard build to try to duplicate 6 times. and i did really think about the "cool" factor vs. the practicality of hinging it. time will tell though so it's not completely out of the realm of possibility.

i also have to worry about the sturdiness of it all because further down the line i'm looking at r/c'ing this beast.....:horror
