Nice review, Review Spot. Good point that the snow base should have included a slot to put the lightsaber hilt into to mimic the wampa ice cave scene. That would have been a great little detail!

Yes! I'm going to try to make a display where I can hang Luke upside down. I have some ideas, I'll keep you guys posted!

Sounds great! Can't wait to see what you come up with!

I was also trying to imagine something relatively simple Sideshow could have done to display Luke upside down. I suppose the easiest thing would have been a snow themed base that could be installed with screws on the ceiling or what have you, and have Luke attach to that with either strong magnets in the boots or some kind of slots for the feet molded into the base, or maybe have the foot pegs attach directly into the base which has sculpted frozen boots.

A really nice, thorough review! Wish they could all go into that kind of detail.

And it's definitely looking like the Luke is the more impressive of the two Hoth figures right now. The second head may be a bit iffy, but everything else on it looks really damn good I think.

On the subject of holes, what are these two for in the snow base?

Maybe part of the mould process?

They made a polystone arch for Jabba, don't see why they couldn't make a Wampa's Lair diorama with ice arch to suspend Luke. :huh

Sideshow added one more image on the product page. Mine's listed as shipping soon. Almost thought about getting express shipping, but that would just wipe out the coupon I used.

Here's a larger version of the proto v prod compare:

proto v prod.jpg

For those who feel there is not much of a shift from proto to production:

Notice the color change, missing highlights on the belt, the high-riding holster belt on the thigh, the odd sleeves, the shorter scarf, the vest that is too tight, badge issue, and the body which looks much taller (going by the boot size). Face seems to be the least of the problems.

I've noticed something with the buttons what you fasten the jacket up with
some are really noticeable , Im lucky mind dont but how many have?image.jpg

Thanks for posting that, WG. It looks like they had the proto on a shot pro. I think a few of the issues you listed would be fixed if he was back on the short pro. Why on gods green earth would they put him on the tall pro?!?

I did consider getting this but the change in vest colour - from the more appealing beige to grey - has put me off more than anything else.

You need to increase the size of the prod to show how he came out taller too, as said earlier some of these issues would probably go away with the smaller body. Maybe even the issue with the vest looking like it can't close.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say they put Luke on a taller body because the short one did not fit the Tauntaun. Just an educated guess.

I think they had him on the short pro all throughout the proto stage when he was shown at SDCC on the tauntaun. Besides, the pro body isn't that much smaller that it wouldn't fit the tauntaun, but smaller enough to help the clothes fit better.

Funny to hear you say the eyes are what makes the headsculpt realistic (given all the flak regarding the eyes) - but both heads look great in your review.

Mine just shipped, so excited to have this in-hand!

Appreciate the review. I think it looks pretty good. Hope the portraits with the one I'm expecting look as good as the ones in your review. Eyes don't look as wonky as some of those early shots folks were posting...

Outfit looks okay except...that vest! No way to futz that closed a bit better, eh? We'll see I guess...

Do appreciate the close look...be sure and update it if you get a tauntaun!
