I LOVE weed.... I wish it were legal. I've done way more questionable things drunk than I ever have high. And as a cash crop, America could make a killing. Yeah, it's still something that smells and affects your behavior... but it's not half as bad as alcohol.
People already smoke it no matter if it's legal or not, so nothing would change really. People would just stop hiding it, and drug dealers wouldn't be able to make a profit from it anymore. Besides, if you use Amsterdam as a model you will see that it doesn't change society all that much... and teens wouldn't do it to spite their parents.
Yeah, the first years everyone would be toking up.. but eventually the novelty would wear off and it would just be like buying a six pack of beer. The taxes alone would help the economy surge upwards...especially initially.
I've just never understood why it's illegal. You can't OD on it, it's not something manmade and semi lethal. And most of all people don't act out negative emotions while using it.
I still think that people could get in trouble driving while high or working with machinery, and laws could be set into place to counter that.... but really... It's long past due.
