I've been watching the Predator movies again, and after remembering how kick ass both movies are, I starting jonzing for a figure of the predator.

Since HT doesn't make one from the original and the one they made from Predator 2 is long since sold out, I went to my local store and with my gift card purchased the last HT Predator they had, the CLEANER KIT VERSION from AVP:R.

I have never seen AVP:R, but it was the only one they had and since it was technically free, I snagged it. Got it home and didn't realize that you had to assemble it. What a pain in the ass, how much more would it cost to have them sell it assembled?

Anyway, once I got it assembled, and it took me an hour, it looked pretty badass.

I don't really collect Hot Toys, I only have the Superman Returns JOR-EL. But can all Predators be this hard to put togther?

Anyone else happy with this Predator? And what other Predators are worth getting (anybody on the board have any for sale?)

This is for licensing and/or import reasons. By selling it as a '1/6th model kit', they can avoid issues without having to label it as a '1/6th action figure'.

But look on the bright side, Predators generally get easier to assemble as you get more practice with them.

Oh interesting I never knew that, cool.

welcome aboard!...:rock I like them ALL...but you will soon see all the differing opinions about these. best bet if you want more is to put preorders in for the Lost pred and the Chick. they only go up over time. and YES, they all have their issues when assembling but they do get easier.

that's why i get all my HT stuff loose and already assembled. let some other poor sucker deal with the hassle for me. saves quite a bit of $$, too.

To think, these are the easy ones to put together. Try putting toegther the AVP Preds...

I have 3 or 4 Predators still in their boxes because they're such a pain to build up. I'm going to have to do it eventually I know.

its not rocket science :huh and you do get instructions. all part of the fun

The instructions leave something to be desired. You need to use the pictures on the box too. when I assembled the Wolf, there wasn't any mention about making sure to put necklace on first before putting head on. Once I had the head on, I saw the necklace sitting in the tray still and had to take head back off.

JML, boiling water and/or hairdryer is your friend in assembling these.

You can actually get the necklace on with the head already in place. I did the same thing with my Wolf :lol You just have to slide it up the bottom of his dreads and then over his head.

I dunno. I rather enjoy building these predators. I feel like it makes me appreciate the details more and makes you feel proud as an owner since you had a hand in it's creation by putting it together. Yea my first Predator was Predator 2 original. That took me about almost 2 hours because I was scared of breaking stuff. Really took my time. :D

Ironically, Chopper only took me 50 minutes.

I enjoy building these guys, but I also enjoy building model kits (Gundams mostly), and I know some people can't stand those.

Gundams are fun to build. But I don't have the patience to sit there and paint them. But I feel like Gundam designs are incredible because when they design the mech they design the insides as well as the out. Every part seems to have a function. Pretty cool.

i enjoy model kits, too. i have every one of the Halcyon Movie Classics Alien saga kits all built and painted myself.
Hot Toys figures aren't model kits in any sense of the word. there's no actual modeling involved. they're just 1/6 figures.
