what day do these get released?
Most are usually released early to mid July when Hallmark has it's big Ornament preview weekend, and then usually one of the smaller pieces is saved for the Fall, though I don't know why. Also, the past few years have had a Premier Weekend Exclusive, limited quantities that are made just for that weekend and not produced as much as the rest. So far there have been these 3 Premier Exclusives.
2007- Tusken Raider
2008- Emperor's Royal Guard
2009- Greedo
This year's Exclusive will be Lando.
The SDCC ornaments from last year are the only ones since Hallmark started that I don't have, mainly because of half the set being an EU design I'm sick of seeing everywhere and full price for one mini trooper just didn't feel worth it. I wonder if there'll be and SDCC exclusive this year.
Yes, in July, but they usually start taking pre-orders a few weeks to a month ahead.
Some of the older Star Wars ornaments have extras of if anyone is looking for certain ones. I don't have extras of the exclusives though.

Sam was nice enough to pick me up the limited edition Star Wars ornaments from SDCC last summer!
I stopped by that line. That was no easy task. Literally a hundred+ people in line before they stopped the line. Basically, if you wanted the ornaments, that was it for that morning.

I picked up Luke, Lando, Boba/Han and the snowspeeder. I'll get the Vader/Emperor later in the year.
Now I just need to find a way to get the SDCC exclusive ornaments.

I went out this morning as well and was able to get all of this years Star Wars and Star Trek ornaments. I am so glad I called to the stores this morning and they held a Lando for me after I had overslept. I had called two other ones and they were already sold out.
I also need to get this years SDCC ornaments. I think I paid $90 for last years exclusive and I still have yet to get the Uhura.
I had no issues picking up Lando, other than I had to ask the counter girl because he was over with a group of this weekend only stuff and I assumed he'd be in with all the Star Wars ornaments. Money's a bit tight for now so I didn't pick up the rest yet, but I'm not worried, they'll be around, nabbing Lando for retail was the key, cuz eBay sales will be insane because he's so limited.

Supposedly Lando is the most limited Ex to date yet.
That's interesting, I would have thought the Royal guard would be, that's probably the least popular of the Exclusives so far, Tusken, Greedo, Lando.

The store I went to had all the limited ornaments behind the counter and only allowed one of each per customer.
I luck out, we happen to have a Hallmark store in my little middle of nowhere town so there's not much competition to deal with, if I were near more significant towns or cities, might be trouble.

That is the one that I saw the day after they went on sale. I actuially bought two of the Royal Guard so they could flank the Emperor.
I know last year by the time I left the store Greedo was sold out and this year I lucked up and was able to get a lady to hold a Lando for me.
