Hey guys, is it too much to ask not to copy/paste our Express Updates into the forum? We tried to establish this as a way to give subscribers some exclusivity when it comes to this stuff, rather than clue in the entire world. If that's not gonna be possible, who knows, they might pull the Express Updates altogether

From now on, we'll try to make sure the Express Updates get added immediately to your online newsletter archive list, so that you can perhaps say something like 'new Express Update sent out, check your newsletter account' rather than post the entire thing. Thanks!

Perhaps I'm taking this way to serious, but, I, for one welcome that this kind of news gets communicated on this board. As far as I'm concerned, spreading important, relevant and interesting information is one of this boards most important functions.
It's one of the reasons why I dwell here: to be informed. To get information about Sideshow I haven't seen myself for some reason, but also to get news from other manufacturers and parts of the web I don't visit on a daily basis.
Just last week I had a problem viewing the express update. If it was not for the help of my fellow freaks here that posted the content of the update (after I had asked to do so), I could have missed valuable information.
I understand you point Dusty, still I find it questionable. But that's my opinion, of course. The alternative you suggest could work though.
I have noticed that the moment one receives newsletters and express updates, depends on the time one got subscribed, giving the older subscribers a slight advantage. Anyways, I prefer to receive that express update in my mailbox.

The point of these express updates is to allow those that read the newsletter to get these items. Posting the link to the items or whatever allows the people just lurking to snag something a member might want. Now, thats not to say when one hits we can't send a PM to someone.

I'm not sure if you're right about the point of these Express updates (I rather belive it's for SSC to make money), but I'll remind you about that on 12" Darth Vader PPO day... I'll "PM" you the direct link if needed.

I think that is exactly the point, if I read Dusty's post correctly--this is supposed to be privileged information for newsletter subscribers only. The express updates don't include any special links, and a non-newsletter subscribing lurker could simply see that Qui-Gon was in stock and just go over to the site and buy it. They are trying to do some special private communication with newsletter subscribers, and not with the larger general public that has access to this board. So in theory, I can see why they want it to be kept private.

(I do wonder how many lurkers around here don't already have subscriptions to the SS newsletter. It seems like that's kind of step one in the Sideshow fan process. I assume that if anybody is hard core enough to be hanging around here all day, they signed up for the newsletter long ago. In reality, if anybody misses out it's probably more a matter of not checking their e-mail fast enough than it is about not being a newsletter member in the first place.)

It is the point of these express updates for NEWSLETTER members to get first cracks. Not Lurkers. I think that is pretty much understood and was explained by Dusty clearly.

As far as missing a SS item. Not gonna happen ever. Trust me.
