Imagine the shipping on a 6 foot tall box. The foreigners will beg to be included then start a mass cry fest when the shipping alone is $500.

It's manufactured in China. There is no reason for any Sail Barges for non American customers to be shipped to the USA. Hasbro has a European branch. They should use it!

I just wonder what marketing research Hasbro has done to even make these order requirements feasible. The C-3PO Premium Format is $399.99 and also has an ES of 5000 that's not even on Low Quantity Alert and he's:

1. A much bigger SW icon than Jabba's barge
2. $100 cheaper than the barge
3. Open to international orders

I'll be shocked if the barge gets anywhere close to the necessary 5,000 preorders.

3PO has also been done to death in all scales and formats. Even Sideshow did him twice in 1/4 scale.

3 3/4 collectors are different than premium format collectors though. That’s also the second time they’ve released that PF. And there have been lots of high end 3PO’s (medicom, Sideshow, Tamashii, upcoming Hot Toys) but barge is a once in a lifetime type of thing. It still may need international orders though. Crazy that Canada isn’t at least included.

I don't think anyone is expecting this is going to cost twenty or thirty bucks to ship. As I mentioned, there were reports that Castle Grayskull shipping bills were well over $50 domestically - five years ago.

Has Hasbro given any basic estimate for shipping, or a claculator of any kind (they've given weight and size)? Hasbro Toy Shop always seemed like pretty fair shipping costs to me back when I bought more 3 3/4" stuff. I'd be interested to know what people are assuming shipping would be on this (I would have guessed around $50 for domestic and international around $130.)

It's really unfortunate such a massive item has to be a shipped internet-only item and not brick and mortar but I guess brick and mortar is dying anyway. I still have my Imperial shuttle from maybe 8 years ago and love it - but probably would never have gotten it if it was a shipped item rather than TRU shelf.

Shipping is included in the orders. There's this note:

"Please allow extra shipping time for orders delivered to Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands. Also, note that an additional fee of $20 may apply to shipments outside of the contiguous US."

Yes but I just wonder how much the "once in a lifetime" aspect of the Barge evens it out compared to the relative importance of characters like 3PO that aren't selling out for lower price points. I mean a $500 Ben Quadinaros Pod Racer would also be once in a lifetime but so what, lol. ;)

I guess we'll just have to see. Maybe this thing will sell through shortly which would obviously prove me wrong.

The more I think about it, the more I think they expect it to fail, maybe testing the waters for high end stuff. Hell of a way to get haslabs name out there.

I could almost see them using this as a test to discover just how many people in the US are ready to instantly plunk down $500 on a Hasbro product. Then they can go, "okay it's about 1400 collectors. Now what cheap thing can we mark up to $500 and then sell 1400 units of?" Fast forward to next year and we've got $500 repackaged AT-AT's on the shelves, lol.

It'd be sad for this much to have gone into getting this up to speed, only to see it never get made. As TonTon says, it's a pretty unique event in the history of SW collecting. I remember there was talk about a Barge back in the 1990's as one of those "distorted" hasbro designs that scaled down certain parts where figs weren't and scaled up others to fit the figs - but this one looks proportionate (even if it isn't actually scale accurate.)

This is surprising: "The main hull will come fully assembled. A few components require assembly including the sails, cannons, fins and additional parts based on the provided instructions."

So we really are talking about a 4-foot box. :horror

I would have been interested if they hadn’t completely ruined Star Wars with The Last Jedi.

I just don’t care anymore. I’ll pick up a couple OT Hot Toys to finish the main cast (Tarkin, Lando) and then I’m done.

He won't be sneery if he wants this playset and US alone isn't enough to hit the 5,000...

I am not sneering but I have seen more than enough post from people from other countries complaining about shipping costs here and on Facebook for much smaller items. This thing will ship in a box the size of a coffin. I can just imagine the cries when it comes to pay for shipping.

Dude, don't let TLJ steel your OT JOY!!! Say Amen, brotha! This is an AMAZING opportunity to own an awesome vehicle that would have NEVER been made in todays economy if not for crowd funding. I, for one, applaud Hasbro in taking this step in boutique, maker design that many large manufacturers do not even attempt. If this was a gorilla walker or a playset for the casino scene or some silliness like that, I'd be right there with you, but turning down a CLASSIC OT offering because TLJ was a bit of a **** bomb, is, no offense, ludicrous for any OT loving fan. How better to show Lucasfilm and Disney that the OT matters, the classics matter, and the original formula matters, by overwhelmingly supporting a completely crazy idea like a friggin 4' long, $500, 40yr old Star Wars playset!

Your loss, bro. TLJ Luke is not the Luke that wrecked shop on the Khetanna. Never will be. Even Mark Hamill knows that.

3,652 more to go.

I really, REALLY hope this happens. I'd love to get a sandbox table hybrid thing to display it in, with a skiff and sarlac on the side. :lol

I could see more people hopping on during the last week or two. I wish Hasbro advertised this more.
