Couldn't you hire someone to paint an even better version of that head for that kind of money?

yep. :rotfl

this just shows how crazy ebay can be at times. either there is some serious shill bidding going on, or the bidders are so dumb they don't realize what they are bidding on.

I'VE JUST CHECKED THE SELLERS' LAST BUYS..HE INDEED BOUGHT A TERMINMATOR 12'' BY MCFARLANE...JUST TO SHOW YOU HOW GREAT THE SCULPT BY MCF IS...AND NO OFFENSE TO ANYONE,BUT GOOD LUCK FINDING A PAINTER WHO CAN DO A CUSTOM JOB LIKE THAT ...LOOKS LIKE A JOB BY THAT ASIAN PAINTER..CANT REMEMBER HIS NAME...

i'm pretty sure there are a few "local" guys who could do the battle damage and hair mods and produce at least a paint job this nice for around $100.

it wasn't the seller's fault I dont think, since the starting bid was only $20.
the custom addition was nice and the paint job is exceptionally good.
but $450, lol

Yulli the custom figure sculptor and JC HONG teamed up and sold deadon Angelina JOLIE heads EACH painted by JC HONG for only $300... ("only"... LOL!)

I'm betting they'll eventually sell these as well for $300 painted.....

too expensive for me..........

Something indeed looks fishy... "Pigduk" & "scuggers1" seem to be having a pissing contest since these 2 persons submitted 17 out of the 21 bids & shooting up the bid price from $50 to $461.

all this is is two dorks with too much money bidding on something they know nothing about. :rotfl

it's this guys listing

https://www.onesixthwarriors.com/forum/showthread.php?t=56660

he raised alot of interest in a custom job he did of this figure and my guess is the bidders think this head is one of his scratch built customs like this

https://www.onesixthwarriors.com/forum/showthread.php?t=53956

feel sorry for the winner when they find out it's just a repaint of a mass produced head, tho a good one.

That battle damaged terminator is one of the best custom jobs I have EVER seen. Fantastic work!!! That guy is genuinely an artist. I still am not buying that it is the same as the McFarlane. I personally think is an original sculpt using the McFarlane as a base but I am by means an expert. Fantastic paint application though. Stupid money though...those guys are getting rooked and they don't even know it.

Cheers,

Brad

if you look at the mcfarlaine head, and look at this custom, they are the same head. one thing to look for is the ears. they are screwed up on the mcfarlaine head and on this version. the right ear is noticibly smaller than the left ear.

for it to be an original sculpt, he would have to have started from scratch. the seller even apparently admitted to someone on the OSW forum that it was the pop salute head he used(which is a copy of the mcfarlaine head)(i still think he used the mcfarlaine head though, and i base this on the angle the neck is at and the fact that he recently purchased the 12 inch mcfarlaine T3 figure).

sure he definatley improved the head, but ultimately, it's a modified recast with a great paintjob. my only complaint about this auction is that is not stated in the details. but he did start the bidding low, and no rational person would think this head would get near $500.

some interesting turns with this arnold head. it appears one of the guys bidding this thing up cancelled his bids. i wonder if he saw the discusions on the various 1/6th forums about what a dork he is?:rotfl or maybe someone alerted him to the fact that he's overbidding on a mass produced head?

but then some guy with only two transactions and "private" feedback comes in and keeps the bidding up? can anyone say "shill bidding"?

cause after one of the two bidders came to his sences, the price would of dropped to below $75, but now another bidder mysteriously steps in and keeps it up over $450. ebay needs to look into this.:emperor
