Meh, people also have figures of Michael Jackson on their shelf too.

The molester aspect was one change I didn't actually mind. Which is weird to say, I know. But if you're going to make a villain - make him a villain.

The performance of the guy who played Freddy in the remake was absolutely nothing like Robert Englund's. He was so incredibly different from the real Freddy that I can't fathom why they didn't just make him a different character to begin with. Yuck.

just like Robocop,
I really do not get why Hollywood remakes things but changes EVERYTHING about them, that's just so freaking stupid. what's the point?
I was surprised with that Company because they at least got Leatherface and Jason right, say what you will about the quality of those movies,
but they at least looked good. That is probably Leatherface's best look since the first movie. Jason looked really good too.
They just dropped the ball on Freddy so bad...

I actually thought that would be a cool angle if it turned out the stories were lies and Freddy was murdered for no reason. Then he'd have a great motivation to be doing what he does. Sort of like Jason having an endless blood lust because of those original camp counsellors that didn't save him or whatnot.[/B]

I remember when the first trailers came up, a lot of people were hoping for this as well.
A lot of rumors were going around about Freddy being Innocent. IMDB was a fun place at that time.

The rumors were so constant that I even went to watch it with the mindset that he was innocent. a really big wasted opportunity

I like the remake. I wish they would just do a sequel to that. It's the only good nightmare on elm street movie other than the original.

Agreed. TCM stands really well on its own, even in relation to the first. I especially liked what they did with Lee Ermey's Sheriff and Leatherface himself looked totally menacing. Lots of little scenes in that movie I like just as much as in the original (like when Leatherface dons Erin's bf's face *shudders*).

Friday the 13th looked slick as hell, Jason was pretty badass and I liked the references to the previous movies without overdoing it, for example having the trophy wheelchair sort of built into his underground lair's wall. Still some stuff I disliked like "perfect nipple placement", etc., but they simply didn't have as much to work with there as with a true horror classic like TCM. Really loved some of the imagery, though, like Jason by the lakeside with the forest behind him. Looks very iconic there and in a number of other small scenes. Nightmare on the other hand had pretty much no redeeming qualities. Hated everything about it.

exactly.
The story sucked, the humans sucked. but Freddy's look and attitude sucked too. his back story sucked and even the dream world sucked.

With CGI and stuff you think they would have made something better.

A re-remake? Jesus. The last attempt was bad enough. Talk about resurrecting a shoulda stayed dead corpse by desecrating their grave with dog p**s. Stevie Janowski captured the spirit of Freddy better than Jackie Earle Hayley:

Remake had good intentions, I think. And some of the concepts and performances were solid, it just suffered too much from imitating the original. I imagine that if they had kept the same basic plot (with some tweaks to remove redundancies), and not tried to make a new Nancy and used original names, we all would have enjoyed it more. If it had been treated as a soft reboot I would have been less annoyed with it.

So, if they're smart, they'll do a soft reboot for this one and not try to reinvent the wheel. Just like with superheroes, we don't need an origin story. Just let the characters loose and be creative with them and we'll be happy.

And let's cast a young character actor for Freddy, please. Love me some Jackie Earl Hayley but we need to cast a young creep like they did when they cast Robert Englund all those years ago.

We all have to remember the iconic character of “Freddy” we all know started to become realized in the third movie. The first movie although good is different “serious”.

FYI did u know the nurse in the remake that tries to sedate Nancy was April O Neil from the original Teenage mutant Ninja Turtles movie?

I always wondered what happened to her
