It is madness, the key words in defending yourself are 'reasonable force' if someone attaks you with a hammer, you can defend yourself with a hammer.
You cannot defend yourself if someone is trying to leave the premises, that was why Tony Martin went to prison about 8 years ago, he shot the burglar in the back a couple of times, ridiculous rules, but in a sue happy country where morons who trip over plastic ties get £10k and blokes perving at girls at bus stops crash there car, Its the lawyers who defend these people that disgust me, making them think its ok, and that there is always someone to blame!

Sorry, but I live in Ohio, you'd be hard pressed to find a leftist judge here, yet the criminals get away with all kinds of stuff. It was the sheriff here who told us to make sure you kill the intruder, who by the way, is a dem.
