Peter Criss the the only one that has a pic that really shows a definitive line at the edge of the makeup. So it seems to me they should all be like that.

Now Im starting to wonder if the brown is a cover-up due to issues with the edge of the face paint.

just spoke to kathy at sideshow and she said thats the way the lips came in but if im not happy about the brown shading i can always send it back.

It'd be a big piece to ship, but you might see if any of our master painters on this board could touch up the lips and side of the face.

I still can't believe the lips all came in like that.

So all the lips are painted like that?! That's such a noticeable painting error. I'd be more upset over that than the shading.

That brown looks like an ill-conceived attempt at shadowing, they'll probably all have it.

Sideshow's paintjobs are all over the place these days. You'll get a masterpiece like Hulk, then turn around and get duds like Ace and Frodo. It's a real crapshoot.

I think it's a pretty cool piece. The way I look at it - there's way more that is RIGHT with it then their is WRONG.

If I had it - I'd just repaint the lips and take an airbrush to that brown area on the side of the face.

Then it would be a perfect piece. The sculpting is solid.

I agree that the sculpt is great. And the paint apps around the eyes looks perfect.

The question is, is what you got worth what you spent, or worth the hassle of fixing it yourself. If not, then send it back. These collectibles are too pricey to end up with something you aren't entirely happy with.

Is the necklace sculpted? It's definitely a seperate piece on the prototype - I'd be more concerned with that than even the lip paint.

good eye Dave.
looks like its definitely been added as a part of the sculpt.

although the lip paint would bother me more.
you just can mess up the KISS face paint. Its what makes them KISS

Send it back. In fact if you preordered all 4 I'd cancel them all.

The paint job and necklace problem are bad enough but the lips alone would drive me insane. As a long time Kiss fan, that was the first thing I noticed when I saw those pics. That's a major blunder by SS and this piece should have never been passed by QC. That QC sticker must mean absolutely nothing.

I still can't believe how after all of these years SS still has MAJOR issues like this. Why does SS have such a hard time releasing products that look like their prototype? This is why SS really needs to start updating their site with production piece pictures BEFORE, repeat BEFORE, an item ships. That way if a customer is unhappy with the production piece, he or she has enough time to cancel their preorder.

I'm glad now that I decided to not order these.

Hmmm, strange that a necklace on a mixed media figure would be sculpted. If I had this and were a big Kiss fan, the error with the lips would eat away at me.

The sculpt is really great, it looks almost real. If I were a kiss fan, I would keep it and have someone repaint the lips if they are on all of them. Luckily not a fan. I doubt any company can come close to making something so lifelike. Anyway, those lips do look awful, worse than the shadow. I would send it back.
