I just saying "WOW.....WOW & WOW " with my wife when we saw the picture! This is completely a "KO" to Asmus !
I cannot lie to myself that it's not good nor not very good when saw such a wonderful figure even with this snap shot!
Did Asmus ever bring us this kind of quality?!
Seems ACI is bring us TOP quality LOTR figures , hm..........except they are bit expensive!
Praying that they are not "Hong Kong exclusive" anymore. :clap

Oh - I see they have teased it!

Yes - he looks like he has eye makeup on in that shot from the screen distortion. Not on the figure itself.

I had started sculpting hair for this when first working on it and then was told about the rooted choice. I was a little sceptical at first but I honestly think it works for this character. That being said some rule rule out real hair no matter what so that will be no surprise and I know it's not for everyone but from someone who helped pioneer adding hair to Hot Toys Joker heads, I think it suits the figure fine. But then again I'm a little biased :lol

Hair and likeness opinions aside - I can't wait for you guys to see the full figure in it's studio lit glory. The outfit and tailoring are great.

I think what's messing with my eyes is the fullness of the hair. Viggo spends 99% of the trilogy with his hair mucked with rain, mud, blood and sweat. This look is too full and fluffy and clean and straight-from-the-salon. I think that's what's clouding my perception a little.

Will they be doing any kind of weathering to mat it down a bit?

That's good news, and I think this looks very promising. I actually like the rooted hair and agree it suits the character since his hair was a mess in almost every shot.

I think realistic hair is the next hurdle for 1/6th makers to conquere as the next evolutionary step in making these 1/6th figures look real. Nothing gives away a figure like plastic hair.

Not sure but doubtful. Fully styled would be near impossible I would think - for mass production.

Black Widow's was generically styled but to get a messy look - Probably some water and hair gel :lol

Rooted hair generally looks awful in production. HT hasn't gotten it right yet IMO. The forehead on this needs to be lowered a bit IMO. Sculpt wise it loos more like a generic guy than Viggo. The outfit does look good. Sorry guys not trying to rain on anyways happiness. If someone does something based on Middle-earth I just want it to be done at a high level.

I'm really liking this, and the rooted hair. This is going to be a horserace between ACI and Asmus on this one. But right now, I'm giving the edge to ACI for the real hair. However will have to see more pics to determine which likeness comes out best. I may end up with both.

It looks like they are doing the same thing asmus is with the face sculpt. Too big of a forehead, and they eyes are off. He needs arwens necklace too! Haha

Sculpt looks more like Aragorn than Asmus's. Really dislike the rooted hair though.

ACi just posted this on facebook

well I'll be damned that looks amazing! I don't care for ACI's Ringwraith but this is flat out awesome! only concern would be how the rooted hair makes it in production

How can ACI and Asmus both have the right to do LOTR products?

It was my understanding that ACI only has the license for the HK Market which is why they cost so much over at US retailers and other places due to the item having to be imported rather than regular distributed
