Re: ACI Toys: ARAGORN 1/6th Figure

I swear Ween is on to something when she said it looked like 2 different sculpts. All the other pics till these he looks to be looking straight ahead. These pics he seems to be looking up. The face even looks different, at least to me. I suggest some professionally done high-res pics so these are not the final pics we have ingrained in our minds.

Re: ACI Toys: ARAGORN 1/6th Figure

I have no idea what to think about that picture.

I think I'm among the few who actually like the real hair. But that expression. It's just peculiar.

Anyone that truly thinks sculpted hair looks better than that has weird taste.

It's not barbie like at all, which is what most people are afraid off. And the way people cry about it needing futzing, makes me cringe at the fact those people must not futz clothing either. Because that would be hypocrisie, wouldnt it? WOULDNT IT?!

Have you seen many of the complainer's collections? They either don't know how to futz, or they just don't want to bother. And it is ironic -- the whole point of articulated figures with real clothing is so that you can pose them. Otherwise, buy a statue. Zero effort, just placement and dusting.

Re: ACI Toys: ARAGORN 1/6th Figure

There are a few main problems I have with non-sculpted hair.

1. The fear that it will look more doll-like in mass production.

2. Over time hairs will fall out and the figure will not last as long as one with sculpted hair (no proof that this is true but I do have childhood memories that some of my little sisters dolls ended up losing hair or having the hair all tangled and a mess).

3. I know nothing of styling hair. It is just needs to be futzed to look good I might not be able to pull it off and begging my wife to style a 12" figure's hair is not something I look forward to.

Ahhh. Number 3 is a huge source of anxiety for me, too!

SOLUTIONS TO YOUR PROBLEMS:

1. The fear that it will look more doll-like in mass production -- it is a doll. Plastic hair looks like a doll too.

2. Over time hairs will fall out -- you answered your own question here; no proof.

3. I know nothing of styling hair -- Learn. Are you bald?

Re: ACI Toys: ARAGORN 1/6th Figure

I think sculpted hair should be kept for statues. Long hair looks weird sculpted, its not small enough for you not to notice its sculpted.
And the fear of it falling off - cmon, my girlfriend has dolls from when she was a baby, and none of them have alopecia ;)

Articulated figures are made to be ajusted, messed with. Look at Asmus Witch King. - I think its a superb figure, just needs some loving ;)

Re: ACI Toys: ARAGORN 1/6th Figure

Hair on a doll won't fall down by itself. Either it was being pulled or it got tangled with something.
Note: don't eat bubblegum when you mess around with this figure. It won't grow again.

Re: ACI Toys: ARAGORN 1/6th Figure

This "real" hair may be all fine and dandy with Aragorn since he was always such a strooble top, but put real hair on Boromir and see how that goes.

Depends on what it's made of. Some things break down over time and get more fragile.
