Hi everyone,

Until now, my 63x79 1/2x11 bookshelf in my loft has been all I needed for me meagre figure collection and model displays, however it is now practically at full capacity and I have room in my bedroom for a similar unit or multiple detolfs (which i've never before owned).

My statues are almost all under 8 inches tall by 5 inches at the base, the reset of my figures are 5-8 inch transformers, anime 6 inchers, 1/35 scale military models and hard cover comics/manga.

I like the pricing on detolfs but I wonder if they are superior to the convenience of a bookshelf, for my needs. I want to have a mix of TBP/Manga and figures on display, and detolfs sort of give off that nonfunctional/formal collection look (that i'm trying to avoid) compared to a big bookshelf. Also the detolfs on Ikea's website seem to have tinted or pigmented glass...which really defeat the purpose of display for me.

I know that in both cases I will be able to store/display my figures but which are easier to live with? and which poses a better value/functionality ratio?

Much thanks.

You should check out the 'show your shelves' threads to get an idea of a bunch of different display options. Personally I'm not a fan of detolfs, though they can make a great display when done right.

I own several detolfs and a very large glass display cabinet. I would advise against bookshelves simply because of the darn dust...if you do not dust every few weeks, your statues/PFs/dolls will get nasty pretty quick. I originally had bookshelves and got rid of them.

i did a mix of detolfs and hanging shelves with my collection and my collection is made up of a mix bag of many a thing

Thanks guys! I decided to go with neither and got one of these instead:

VITTSJÖ Shelving unit - IKEA

Love the open air look, affordable, easy to assemble and sturdy as a rock when mounted on the wall. Would recommend!

Good evening everyone!

I' am having a hard time to find some tips regarding displays and shelves. I already have something in mind but still, I'd like to have some feedback from all of you.

My collection is based only of the Saint-Seya Ex Cloth Myth, having this in mind I'd like to know what do you think about this display?

My concerns are about the light and space mostly.

Could you give me a little insight on what sort of lights should I buy or avoid? I fear that the wrong ones can overheat the space and damage the figure's paint etc.

And lastly, do you know if there is a sort of "best glass" for figures exhibition? That reduces the amount of getting dust and provides the best transparency .

Thanks in advance!

Have a nice evening everyone
