Soooo.... BadMoon: I take it that if you produced something that was copied and made money for someone else, you'd be okay with that?

Awesome! So, what can you make? I'd love to copy it and sell it so I can make some cash without having to pay you a cent. It obviously wouldn't hurt you in any way, so get crackin'. I need some extra cash.

I make songs. Feel free to use mine above.

I don't agree with what the guy is doing. I just feel people need to mind their own damn business sometimes. Really the guy is in another country. Like others have stated these will still show up. I think and have said before that Sideshow needs better controll over their warehouses. Both on the scam front and on some of the paint apps. They are a big company and can handle it. What I kid about is all the super rejects that feel they must come to the rescue to help police the internet. I say gimmie a break. :lol

If someone is doing something illegal, the proper authorities need to be informed! I don't see anything wrong with that. This thread is in the Ask Sideshowcollectibles section.:huh

Do you flag down a cop when you see someone speeding? Scalping tickets on the street? Jaywalking? Double parking? Selling items out of the back of a van?

Do you flag down Cops and got tell on those things or do you mind your own business and go on down the street?

Kit has more clearly described the intent behind my post. That's all I'm saying. Plus I wanted to post my bad ass song again. :lecture

If a police officer is at hand, then yes, I will notify him if something wrong is going on or call 911. :huh

I somehow do not believe you. I don't believe for one second that if you see someone jay walking and then you see a Cop that you run up and tell. If you do then you need to get a life and stop being a ****** bag.

I don't mean to come off as a jerk by saying that, but if some Joe Public guy ran and told a Cop I was jaywalking then I'd punch Joe Public in the face and make the ticket I got for jaywalking worth it.

First of, don't start with your pathetic ad hominum attacks. You asked a question, I answered. Next time try making an analogy, that's not completely ridiculous.
Informing the public of a scam does not equate to being an "internet police." I thought a staunch republican such as yourself would be more than willing to adhere to rules than anyone else.

I asked you specific questions and you answered. I have opinions on those answers. You say yes, you would tell a Cop of any illegal activity you saw. If you feel the analogy does not match then say so before you answer next time. I think you ( and others ) should spend more time minding their own business rather than trying to police what other people are doing.

I have already said several times that I think it's ok to report this to SS, but I think it should end there and be left to SS. If you don't agree fine. I was making a point about other "illegal" activities that people commit every single day and you seem to think it's your responsibility to report anything and everything you see to the proper authorities. I think that's sad.

So you wouldn't tell a Cop if you saw somebody getting raped, people selling drugs or other illegal activities? I never mentioned reporting "anything and everything." But if major illegal activities are going on, then yes, I will call the police. If you don't then that is sad.

Would I tell a Cop if I saw someone getting raped? I doubt it. I probably run up and kick the ^^^^ out of whoever was raping the women. Would I go report a drug dealer? I doubt it to be honest because I don't feel like having my face attached to it and possibly being shot later.

My analogy wasn't far off when I mention selling items from the back of a van though man. You KNOW those items are stolen. Or the guy selling fake Rolex's on the street?? I'm not going to go call the Cops on that guy. Are you?

No need to have an all out war here. My point is this crap is everywhere. Why is this any different. Walk down China town in New York. You can buy fake everything. Again it is of my opinion that if you want to help fight crime than pick a good one. Not petty stuff like this.

Well, obviously you and I have completely different outlook on this subject. I like to live a life free of any kind of activities that is dangerous to me or anyone else. Let's stop this argument here.

"Or you could say it's up to BM to take action against those doing it like it's up to SS to take action again this guy and not the internet police."

I could. Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut......

From DM's tone in his post, I don't think he would. :) And what if he didn't know his work was being copied? Wouldn't it be nice to have a fan base with ooooh, I don't know, maybe a forum of some kind where the information could be exchanged about these kind of things? So not only he, but any who bought his work could be made fully aware of the copying?

And speaking as someone who has produced sculpts that have been copied and resold without permission, I have a particular dislike for anyone who steals in this fashion, and gratitude to any who make such acts known to the general public. I don't know where this "internet police" idea sprang up; seems to me it's more like responsible buyers who feel it's in the best interest of the artists to make the public aware the work is being copied.

It's been said in this thread that any who DO buy from this recaster without reading the product description and seeing it's a fake deserves to be out 100 bucks. Hm. I think it's better to make sure the information is well known by as many as possible and keep the recaster from making 100 bucks on someone who's ill-informed.

Cah-razy idea, I know. Just wanted to throw it out there. ;)

just something else to add guys. when the im comiquette was being sold on ebay, ebay and sideshow were notified. as far as i know, the auctions were never pulled and sideshow never took any action against the seller in china. there is only so much that can be done legally when the opposing entity in half way round the world in a communist country. some say their practices are illegal, but that would constitute the ability to prosecute the offender in a court of law. china's court system consists of a bullet and a bill to the offender's family after execution. nothing will ever be done about these forgeries, even though they certainly devalue the statues that were bought by every customer legitimately.

If SSC changes which factory they use because of someone selling factory rejects, we'll never hear about it. It doesn't mean no action was taken.

And BM and Kiff - you guys need to take your act on the road - preferably jaywalking, so I can report you to the police.
