I’ve got most of these. They messed me around on rogue sent me the regular when I got times on PO and did nothing for me said I was SOL… it was almost enough for me to boycott them. but I got the uncanny version as I wanted the winking head but not sure how I feel about mixing and matching with the cell shading. Having said that I got omega red uncanny because I hate the cell shading on the original (why is it a completely different style than the rest of them?) and now I need to decide what one to sell,
All of this just points to me thinking of selling them all one day. A few things:
1) I really don’t like cell shading. I’ve never seen it actually work on an action figure. It’s a cute idea but it just doesn’t work IMO. I think these would be better if none of them had cell shading. The rogue proves that to me as the sculpts are good
2) they are too clunky. Like the stiff capes and coats and such are really annoying
3) the articulation kind of sucks, you can’t do much with it
4) they take up a lot of space , honestly for a big team like x men it makes it really hard to collect them,
5) they are marked or get marked up pretty easy with scratches and paint flaws
6) they are overpriced
7) they are just not that much fun. I find myself getting bored with them almost immediately after opening them, even characters I adore like Gambit, I’m almost never compelled to look at them and even when I get a new one I’m too lazy to get out the others.
I have to say Hasbro Marvel Legends was one of the worst line in history. So these were welcome to me as X-Men especially 90s X-Men may be my favorite all time thing.
But something changed with Marvel legends. Their sculpting improved their plastic quality improved and their body proportions improved. I have to say that marvel legends is now the best quality and best looking line on the market by a long long mile.
The figures feel so much more collectible and so much more enjoyable to me than these and since we also have amazing mafex figures and I can collect many x-men, I think I may just abandon all the Mondos
I find myself not wanting to look at the stuff clunky oversized version of my favorite character gambit. But genuinely am excited to fawn over and pose a wonderful figure of a character I don’t care about like Marrow. That says a lot to me.
