Can you show a picture of the one you're talking about? I've considered going with an 18" figure and making a base for it as a sort of "poor man's PF" but I'm not sure if I really like any of the ones I've seen.

As this thread is All things Hellboy I want to mention that I was one of very few people who bought the Mezco Hellboy 2 Right Hand of Doom Articulated thing. I wish I had not wasted the money. All you can do is rotate the fist around, up and down, side to side. The fist stays clenched. Just not what I was expecting.:monkey2

What's the size of the hand without the stand? If you cut it off the stand and used the hand to replace the RHOD on the 12" figure, would the figure be improved? Would the hand be a little bigger than the one on the figure?

This is not my auction (and way overpriced) but this is the best pic I could find -

Here's Michael Crawford's review for the "gritted teeth" version. I prefer the regular expression, but his review is very accurate, IMO.

I think the busts are 1/4 scale, but I could be wrong.

The Mezco piece in question is 7" high -- this is the rotocast vinyl one for $29. It looks like the hand alone is about 3.5 inches in length. The one on the Sideshow figure is 3" (a bit small for the scale) and has the same articulation dr2red describes, but it's not a very crisp casting compared to some of Mezco's smaller ones. I'm thinking this could be a crucial part of a nice custom Hellboy.

BTW, the movie fell 77% this weekend, from first to fifth place. Not good. Time to go see it again if you want a third installment to be made.

Ah, my bad... for some reason I thought their busts were 1/4. I actually had wondered before if it would work as a replacement since the sculpting detail is so much better, but gave up the idea since I thought they were 1/4 scale.

Just curious, but where are you getting numbers for this weekend? And wouldn't that really just be Friday's numbers? Those may be just a tad skewed given the opening of a certain other movie.

Here: Nikki Finke's Deadline:Hollywood Daily. She's been pretty good at calling results lately. And she says Batman TDK may blow past expectations, and gives an explanation of how the midnight showings will affect the way its performance tonight is described in other media in terms of percentage rise or fall.

I just think that the audiences for the two films overlap so well that it's not at all surprising that Hellboy would plummet on the day that the Dark Night premieres.

It is a little disheartening to see something like Hancock grossing many times what HBII is doing, though.

That's why I find box office to be the least interesting aspect of the film industry. Especially when people try to use it in arguments about quality.

Kind of unrelated, but I wish someone would write a great movie for Will Smith. I always think he's great in mediocre movies.

Wow, the hand just fell off? That would enter me into a whole other world of pissed off. I can pick up the 18" comic Hellboy for about $45 but wasn't sure if I wanted to hold out for the Sideshow Hellboy 2 rotocast, which of course costs $70. I was looking for some first hand knowledge from those who own either the 18" comic version or the Hellboy 1 rotocast (or both) to get some idea of the quality and how happy people were with them.

Just to be clear, Sideshow is just distributing the 18" Hellboy 2 figure. It's made by Mezco just like the other ones.

Yeah, and the comic Mezco Hellboy is pretty impressive in person; I've had a chance to see one. I'm thinking I'll go that way and save $30, as opposed to the HB2 rotocast.

Saw the Mindzeye HB statues yesterday - in person the midnight version is the one
that stands out - the color is a fantastic blend of purple/dark blue/black.
