I forget - do you own Quakewave?

Not trying to be a smarta$$ or anything, here. But I don't think there's ever been a third party Transformer as solid as Quakewave in terms of build quality - heck, it's better than the official MP seekers, Soundwave. Rodimus and Grimlock and AT LEAST on par with MP-10. Add the fact that I'm not worried about any of FansToys products being G1-accurate, and I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Daca Toys... Well, I'll wait and see. Same goes for stegobot, here. :)

Agreed DPrime. I finally owned Quakewave and I couldn't believed why I waited so long to get him. I can't wait to see FT Dinobots. It's may even replace Takara MP Grimlock.

Until FT showed their Scoria prototype I was firmly in the "no need for a new MP Grimlock" camp as the existing one does the job very well.

Then I saw the Scoria prototype and it's increased bulk compared to MP08 and decided that I'd probably buy a new one.

FT wouldn't need to change a great deal about the design and the transformation could be kept the same.

The changes I'd make would be,

1.Make it taller ( same as MP08 will be when it gets the platform shoes ).

2.Make the thighs bulkier.

3.Remove the electronics from the right shoulder/arm and have the weapons light up seperately just as they've done with Scoria.

It's much cooler being able to have lights that can be left on for picture taking purposes than having to hold a button down to activate them.

4.Make both hands fully articulated.

^ Agree with both of you. :)

That said, if for some crazy reason we never get an upsized Grimlock, official or not, I think I'll be fine with my Hasbro first run with FT platform shoes.

So my Soundwave came today and he's immaculate! Except for extremely tight hip joints. Also, I knew the cassette (Laserbeak) was small but damn, I was surprised when I had him in hand, he's SO tiny! thing is so awesome.

Few pics.

^^^ My ever so slowly growing Transformer collection haha. Looking to get the Datsuns and maybe finish the seekers next. Only recently started with the Transformers MP line.

Yoshi,
Congrats!

Soundwave is great but for me Laserbeak is the real star of the set.

Other TF's tend to get more praise because of their size but I think it's the greatest Masterpiece mold yet.

Your collection is off to a very good start!

looks great. (MASTER PIECE SOUNDWAVE) i ordered one but they messed up my order didnt come in. sucks. waiting to see what gets done. i ordered on nippon yassan.

Looks great, congrats :)

Agreed on quakewave. He is a true masterpiece and I'm sure scoria will be great. But I've been thinking of getting out of MPs and Transformers really. Wanting to focus on statues, hot toys and more impressive, larger display stuff. I'm going to order the Fewture Action Toys Ultimetal Optimus Prime and probably sell the rest of my MPs to fund it. Was thinking I'd rather have this one, huge, perfect, die cast optimus prime, even if he doesn't transform (because i rarely ever transform transformers lol), than my 3 shelves of MPs. As cool as they are, next to my other gokins, statues and hot toys, they leave me wanting more. They are for playing with more than for display, and I don't play with them as much as their price warrants.

I am eyeing that Diecast Prime as well, and even though I said to myself never to buy a TF that doesn't actually Transform, it looks like it would make for a very impressive piece. The price is something I find hard to justify though. Way the hell up there. $500-600 would've been great I think.

Sucks that you are thinking about selling your MP's man, I believe that's something I could never do (unless newer, upgrades molds come along).
While they don't display as good as a HT of a PF, they really shine when displayed alongside my macross Valkyrie collection. I did get rid of all of the other G1 stuff though. While they do hold a very special place, they just haven't aged well.

Well the more I look at mp-11, the less impressed I am by him. Sideswipe and prowl are loads of fun, and I may keep those just to fiddle with. If i get the ultimetal prime, i don't need mp-10. Grimlock is great and will probably stay too, tho I am upset I sold my hasbro version and got the white boxed asia convention version, soundwave I've always been a little iffy on and the hasbro yellow eyes bother me much more than i thought they would and I sold my takara version a long time ago. Quakewave is all sorts of amazing but I just have no connection to shockwave as a character and never cared for the color purple lol.

As for my third party stuff, I got FP Colossus in a trade, and he's cool, but again, no affinity to the character. I have the first two mmc feral rex bots, and they are cool, but I don't think i want to spend the $300 more to complete Rex. I already sold the rest of my mmc and fp stuff. I think I will keep maketoys yellow giant tho. I LOVE devastator, probably my second favorite transformer, and giant is amazing. I don't know. I find that when I catch myself considering whether or not i can live without something, it usually means i can live without it. Then I calculate how much $$$ I've spent on them, and if that number is large, begin to question why I keep something that I could live without that costs so much. I've spent like $3000 on MP and third party transformers over the last two years, and that's just a bit crazy. Would rather have that one $800 optimus to end all optimus'

I'm already in the process of ditching my TF collection and going the statue and Hot Toys route. What I am surprised to find is how slowly my stuff is selling. I got stuff on boards and ebay and it's just taking it's time. I'm hoping the new movie will spark more interest.

I've been unimpressed with some of the US MP figures. If I were to ever get back into it at this point, it would definitely be 3P stuff and I may go as far as only FT stuff too, considering on how amazing Quakewave is. I'm dying to see what their Grimlock will look like.

Yeah, Scoria makes it hard to get out of TFs as all I've really wanted are awesome dinibots. I may just do those to go with my maketoys giant.

As for stuff moving slowly, it will go quick if you undercut average prices by $10. MPs are popular still, but the rage and hype peaked about 6-8 months I think.

That's too bad about selling the majority of your MPs. But if you aren't digging them anymore, then you gotta what you gotta do. Just be certain that's 100% what you want to do and stew on it for a while if you need to. There have been many collectors who have sold their collection for whatever reasons only to regret doing so years later. Often they try to re-acquire those figures but at inflated prices.

But having recently purchased the Batman PF, I totally understand where you're coming from.

Thanks, Laserbeak is great. Can't wait to get the rest of the cassettes.

Thanks. I've been stewing on it for a while. The thing that kept me from doing it is that the MPs were the best out there for TFs (and still are, really) and I needed at least an optimus in my collection. I had forgotten about the Ultimetal version and written it off long ago as too expensive, but after getting some statues and also getting the fewture getter g team and seeing the quality on those, I remembered the Ultimetal. Knowing that I can have one diecast, beautifully painted 17" tall beast of an optimus would nullify my need for most of the TF collection.

I realized I like TFs best in small numbers. I had a ton of deluxe sized figures and they just became clutter, so I sold them all and even though some were amazing toys that I loved, I really never miss or think about them. Those figures were more about buying them than owning them, just that fun moment of opening and fiddling for a while.

MPs are kind of the same but on a larger, better scale. I already sold half my MP collection and don't really miss it because it was all repaints and the shelves were getting too cluttered. Now I have 3 shelves of MP and 3rd party and nothing is cluttered and looks clean and nice. I thought, maybe I'll just hold out until I have more display space, but even when I do, I'd rather get more statues and maybe some busts. Even if I have a huge room just for my collection, I don't think I want a ton of shelves of transformers. I'd rather have that one really nice conversation piece, which to me the MPs aren't, as cool as they are.

One transformer I will never sell is my custom TFPrime Cylas Breakdown I had repainted and modded to be an LA Kings Goalie robot. That thing is all sorts of badass :)

Sorry to hear that SurlyJ, but I hear where you're coming from. I did the same with most of my Hot Toys, actually. Currently only have Predator 1 and the first Arnie T-800... though I will be surely adding that T1 BD T-800 as soon as I get some funds in my Paypal account. :)

Good ones to keep! Those T-800s will probably also be two of the very last HT figures I ever consider getting rid of.

I sometimes wonder if I will ever get rid of the Hot Toys. But I doubt it. If I ever did it would only be because I found statues I loved of the same characters like Thor and Captain America whose Hot Toys aren't my favorite.

I am not sure how to take everyone's remorse though lol. I was feeling pretty good about it but now you guys are making me sad!

I saw Year of the Horse Optimus today at Toys R Us, but I passed on him. He looks pretty cool, but I already have the regular one from a couple years ago.
