No way they spent $200 million for the rights to make a show based on a videogame. If they did...

If it goes for what the crappy hobbit did it will be awful.
If they try to do their own thing it will be awful.
If they make it more pg to attract kids as viewers, it will be awful.

It needs to be serious and follow the tone of the movies. I hope they dont try to make it funny or have jokes and stuff.

I personally have no desire to see a reboot/remake or even 'different' stories from the LOTR/Hobbit era/timeframe within the Tolkien universe. Jackson's LOTR movies pretty much are 'it' for bringing the books to live action in my book. Hobbit was ok, but felt less like the Jackson LOTR trilogy but they were ok.
