13 now.....And I voted for Sideshow too...Altough it is my favorite collectible company,I've never seen so much QC issues than at Sideshow's.Never had any problem with Bowen or Hard Hero. The packaging and breakage issue of the Ex ghost Rider Maquette was ridiculous and the sloppy paint jobs we had over the years makes them the worst I think.Even My Grey Hulk pf (that end up costing me more than 750$ with shipping and customs) had a paint defect.I didnt want to send it back because of all the fees and all the trouble it would give me.I had to pay a pro painter to cover the paint rub done at the factory. For a 500+ statue this is unacceptable.Definitely place for amelioration there.

There may only be a few votes so far but the results are not alarming in my opinion. As far as the forum chosen I think it reaches a fair deal of people who are in tune with this hobby all while staying out of a one company only dedicated forum.

that's hilarious. i disagree, of course. i don't think that a poll at Statue Forum tells much of anything.....they love them some Bowen and Gentle Giant over there. who's the asterik company?

I would agree with Shai. SS rocks everyone except in the QC department. Some pretty alaming stuffs gets shipped across the ocean from China sometimes.

I would probably say Sideshow, mainly because that is really the only company on that list I deal with, but it is kind of hard to ignore MR's quality control, given last year's helmet fiasco. Of course if you ask which company has the best customer service, Sideshow would probably win that poll too.

I disagree. That forum supports all types and has fans dedicated to many different collectible companies.

That poll definitely wouldn't be a fair representation of the truth here since this board is dedicated to Sideshow.

Start the poll. Any poll where only one company, person, etc is getting the vote isn't telling the whole truth. A true scientific poll will be fairly balanced.

Whats funny is that years ago,Sideshow had one of the Best QC of all....I remember when the first Uni-monsters 12'' came out,I was telling myself that those were some of the best paint jobs on the market.

I don't think the poll has anything to do with "which company do you like". It's about which company has the most QC issues. That's the problem with this forum sometimes, some people have too much bias, and you end up cheering for the overall "company" rather than the actual quality of the product. A biased view or reveiw of a product is nothing but a disservice to everyone from the company itself all the way down the food chain to us, the consumers.

Personally Ive ordered quite a bit from Sideshow, Master Replicas, Gentle Giant, Hot Toys, and Medicom. If you see my closet or collection you would know this. And my unbiased honest truth is that Ive never had to return anything more than Sideshow products.

Not even exaggerating, 7 out of 10 products I receive from Sideshow I have to return back for a replacement due to bad paint, bad assembly, damages, etc. This ranges from the 1/6 figures all the way to the higher end stuff. It's pretty riddiculous. (you guys can call Inthia and even ask her how much stuff I end up getting RMAs and return labels for, and Im sure she'd agree)

I have almost all of MR's prop replicas and Ive only had to ever return ONE item due to excess glue.

not defending anybody, but I think the higher number of defects in SS's product comes mainly due to the fact that SS's pieces are more intricate and incorporate new design attributes these manufacturers arent used to dealing with and have more trouble reproducing because most of SS's pieces arent the same ol cookie cutter product.

what they produce not only breaks boundries for what collectibles can be and takes a statue to another level other companies didnt dare try until SS blazed the trail (fiberoptics/lights, magnetic interchangable parts, mixed media etc.), it also creates a learning curve with each piece to a certain extent with the factories. But its the price you pay for ground breaking collectibles.

you could use an Olympics vs X-Games comparison.
Olympics = very little broken bones during games due to the same ol boring events. (boring)
X-Games = Broken bones everywhere due to the new grounds they reach & tricks they attempt. (a blast to watch)

... now. Dont get me wrong. Sometimes their factories ship some things that should in no way shape or form be let out the door. but they all do at some point.

I don't buy from other companies to really have a fair comparison, but I have had quite a few sideshow items that better quality control would have made a better figure. But even there most of the stuff I have gotten from Sideshow was fine, I think the 12" Anakin is the only thing from sideshow that really disappoints me.

I know Shai. I was just looking at my Connor McLeod and thinking how great the paint apps are (even though they are quite simple) and then I compare that to Obi-Wan/Anakin/Qui-Gon/Bespin Han. Its quite sad. :monkey2:monkey2:monkey2
