For me I wouldn't even think of choosing Marvel over either LOTR or SW. The Marvel stuff is nice but there's nothing in that line that I just have to have.

Spoken like a true fan of both but not of Marvel. Its all relative to your fanbase. I have loved Marvel as long as I have loved Star Wars and for me when you see things like The Hulk in PF its really breathtaking.....seen in 3-D and looking as if stepping off of the pages I loved as a kid into real life that feeling?....its unreplaceable....

I feel the same about certain Universal Monsters, LOTR, SW......unfortunately they've hit me with a tripple whammy in one shot....

I feel the same way, but at the end of the day, I'm still a bigger fan of Star Wars than I am of Marvel Comics. If it comes right down to it, I'd gladly sacrifice the Marvels if it meant maintaining the SW.

That's what I did, sadly I had to... :(

Trevor's Frodo likeness for the Mount Doom diorama was uncanny at such a small scale. I can't imagine how awesome his first sculpt at 1/4 scale will be. And for my most anticipated PT PF no less! :google

By The way... THANKS SIDESHOW!!! I have the whole line of PF so far and I think is the line I will always keep. Now I wish to see the whole statue... really can't wait to see more pics...

That's what I was thinking... Trev also sculpted the Anakin Vs Obi-wan diorama and he really captured the likeness on both in a smaller scale so this could really be one of the best PFs so far.

Yeah, I let go of Marvel because movies in general just have such a higher priority to me than comics. Now I'm having to decide which *movie* lines that I can and can't collect. I *really* want that new Creature PF but its still outranked by SW, LOTR, and Indiana Jones. SS sure opened the floodgates with last night's newsletter.

I think someone on this board once posted, "You have to decide what you love, and what you REALLY, REALLY love...."

Interestingly, though I have great faith in Trevor, I think some sculptors have stated before that they're more comfortable in the 1/6 - 1/7 scale versus 1/4, or maybe I just think I read/heard that. I imagine as with any art form, you get real comfortable with certain stuff, so if you did 1/6 heads more than anything, it may feel awkward doing 1/4 even though it's a bigger canvas and more room to work with and the ability to be more detailed.

This confirms what I'd already expected: Don't expect a pairing with a ROTS Obi-wan. The hand is too low and the stance not aggressive enough to be in combat.

Besides, it's been a common trend in the Star Wars PFs (with the exception of the Biker Scout) to feature a more passive pose than the one suggested by such a pairing.

That right hand is definitely holding a saber, though. :rock

I still expect the other hand to have an ignited lightsaber

It looks like they've got him posed with the hood down too (not that we couldn't flip it up.) I'm guessing they're going for the scene where he stands in the doorway to the Mustafar bunker and starts using the Force to close the blast doors. Can't wait to see more!

My view on sizes: I think the best thing any art director can do for a sculptor is give them variety of scales! I LOVE that about Sideshow. They do it all, so you never know just what size you might get to work in next.

each scale has it's challenges. for portraits, 1/4 can't be beat! I really love it! I don't have to use magnifiers as much! :D

Just because he's not in the dueling force hand push pose or necessarily a strong battle pose doesn't mean there isn't a companion Obi-Wan coming. This is an Anakin PF, not Vader, they could have Anakin and Obi-Wan like they were onboard Grievous's ship, working together, a counter piece to Vader and Obi-Wan combatting from the OT, which I think would be just as powerful a display; Brothers and Enemies.

Okay, TOE, I'll get that preview pic sent your way in jus.........hey...WAAAAIT a minute! :lol

Khev, I hate to get hopes up, but I did feel better about the quarter scale version. the hair was a lot of fun, and I think the likeness works pretty well. I had the honor of seeing the prototype in person...and I REALLY loved it. Sideshow hires wizards in the art department...(or are they Jedi? Or both?) Those guys make these things look beautiful.

Trev

I think I like that idea more than them facing off. It might even tempt me to get an ROTS Obi, but my current plan is to have Maul, Dooku, Vader (AKA Sith Eyes Anakin), and Vader (suited) displayed together. And I may get a Palpatine to go with them.
