Oh, totally agree... his and some of the other custom ones are unbelievable. But I'd still be surprised (a bit) if he passed on a SSC version. Thats all I'm saying.

here's an idea. one luke figure release and accessory releases for the different 'looks' on his personal timeline.
four lukes and no lando...i'm surprised jackson and sharpton haven't protested outside sideshow!

Well i'm glad for this one just for the sake of more ANH figures as last year was the 30th anniversary after all. Maybe SS should've gone with ANH Luke last year and left Bespin Luke until this year.... ho hum.

Nice announcement. Would have prefered a non-human but you really cant complain about the release of a core charcter. The clothing looks pretty nice and doesnt seem to suffer the same problems as ANH Leia's nylon gown. Cant wait for more photos, then I can decide whether to get this or Bespin Luke. If the exclusive is a decent item I may even use my reward points.

This announcement upsets me. I understand we need an ANH Luke. I like the sculpt from what I've seen so far. I love Trevors work.
My problem is the same as Chavez, why do we need another Luke right now? Why rush getting the Lukes out instead of releasing one a year? Luke is THE FACE of OT Star Wars and we need a few Lukes but why so many so fast?

I can see your argument, but I have to disagree. Not that I'm hoping that the next announcement is X-wing Luke followed closely by Bacta Tank Luke, but rather when an announcement is made-- unless it's some inconsequential EU character that I have no connection to or desire to own-- I'm happy that I'll be adding another great SW representation to my growing 1/6 collection.
If Greedo had been announced people would have said "what a minor character, where are the key characters"-- damned if you do and damned if you don't.
This is, to use an overused term, iconic Luke and it's great that we'll be able to add him to our ANH shelf with Obi, Leia, and Han... 2008 is starting out strong-- I'm curious and anxious to see where the line heads from here.

Again I agree and I'm not trying to continue the argument but I just see a pattern. I'm scared that the next release will be a legendary scale X-wing Luke, then an alien, then a PF Jedi Luke, then another Leia, then a ANH Luke w/ ANH Obi diorama.
As a long time SW collector, I love the aliens and droids then same if not more than the iconic characters.
I WANT to see more Praji's.
I WANT to see more Space Slug dioramas!
I WANT to see more 1:1 Salacious' and Bossk's.
Keep this line exciting!!!

On this we agree as well.
The eclectic surprises are phenomenal. We definitely don't want this line to be just about those few major characters. Hopefully we'll see another fresh (and definitely off the beaten path) character in either the 1/6, PF, dio, or 1:1 lines announced shortly.
All in all though-- it's a good time to be a SW collector.
Looks great so far. An iconic figure is always a good thing. The usual complaining cracks me up. ANH Luke? He IS Star Wars. Shut up you babies.

Spring 2006 - Jedi Knight Luke Skywalker
Fall 2007 - Bespin Luke Skywalker
Summer (likely) 2008 - A New Hope Luke Skywalker
It has been on per year, even though ANH Luke's announcement is much closer to the shipping of a Luke than in the past, they still are coming at 1 per year. Yavin Luke makes 2 for 2007, but I think collector's and Sideshow both would agree that Yavin Luke was a treat figure for CIV attendees but Bespin Luke was THE Luke figure for 2007. It is fairly spread out. I understand want to mix things more and agree, but I don't think the release of Lukes is as bad as some blow it up to.

This is the time for ANH figures. The first year was ROTJ. Last year was ANH and starting later this year it will be ESB so Im sure we will get a Bespin Lando before the end of 2008. Plus we will probably get a Hoth Luke and Han sometime near the end of the year or beginning of next.

I don't mind the multiple characters thing. If the released TPM Obi-Wan next I would do everything I could to be next in line.
