to prevent or lessen damages I should say, Sideshow has came up with another tactic as to how package handlers should take care of Sideshow products.

S4010102.jpg

It states:

PAKAGED DAMAGE??

WHAT TO DO:

If this carton is visibly damaged, sign for it as "Damaged" or "Opened" and call Sideshow Collectibles phone number listed below. If concealed damage is found after opening, again, notify Sideshow immediately.

RETAIN CARTON AND PACKING MATERIAL IF CONTENTS DAMAGED DO NOT CALL CARRIER (UPS, FEDEX)

CALL 800-474-3746

What are your guys thoughts? Will it help or not, maybe even a bit?

Probably won't help much since the couriers just drop it at the door and leave :lol

Only if its under $100... if its more then you have to sign for it... at least thats what SSC said they were doing.

Re: Another GREAT idea by Sideshow...

That's nice for the more expensive items (over $100), assuming of course your driver makes you actually sign for it. At the very least SS is doing their part, I think it is rather foolish to blame them for carrier carelessness.

:clap

Re: Another GREAT idea by Sideshow...

obviously they think they have a line on something to get on to the carriers' bad service/handling.

and I hope it pays off. Somebody needs to whip those ****ers into shape. Im sure SS sat down and did the numbers on how much money bad shipping is costing them on returned product. And the carriers many times get to wash their hands of it.

go Sideshow! stick it to'em! :devil

Re: Another GREAT idea by Sideshow...

so far my Buffy PF and Doom Archive set came with this sticker and both are in more excellent condition than the other packages that came before. Although, there are some minor ding corners, but no big holes.

Re: Another GREAT idea by Sideshow...

I'm glad to see these stickers now. Maybe some of the drivers will handle the package a little better. Of course, I don't have much hope in them paying attention to this new label if they can't even read the big one plastered all over the box:

Re: Another GREAT idea by Sideshow...

Yep, I noticed it on the package of Lurtz as well.

It is a good idea and probably it will work.

But I never understand how come US people have these much problems with UPS or FEDEX. I receive numerous packages with Fedex without even strach, plus it was thousands of miles away from USA.

I have had friends who have worked for shipping compaines, and they have told me horror stories about how items marked as fragile are. I don't think anything can stop the damage, all you can do is hope to protect it well enough that damage doesn't happen and I know a lot of people will disagree but I think Sideshow has done a godd job with that.

Noticed that little label on my latest shipment as well. I've been extremely lucky in the years I've been ordering from SS -- not one has had damage of any kind. (now watch all my next ones do...I think I just jinxed myself)

Call me pessimistic, but if the drivers/deliverers/handlers can't read/understand FRAGILE, I don't hold much hope. But I guess it's worth a try.

I've always wondered if they was a way the shipper could hold the shipping company responsible (READ: a penalty fee for each shipment damaged?) for all of the loss of company revenue because of carelessness by the shipping company. If that was the case, betcha things would change. :D

Better yet, in addition - once an item has been cleared from each particular district, THE DRIVER SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE!

How 'bout packing the damn things right to begin with instead of relying on some sticker that no one is going to read or adhere to. Anyone getting tired of reading posts about damaged goods? I know I am. Sideshow has shown TIME AND TIME again they simply do not care to package expensive items with even a hint of care for the customer. I don't care to hear from the whiny "Just open it up" people either. If I pay $300 for a product I expect it to be packaged to arrive in mint shape. How freakin' hard is it for SS to have boxes made up 2 inches bigger than the boxed item within to allow for extra packing????????????????????????????????????

wonder how expensive triple-walled corrugated outer boxes would cost. And if that differnce in cost would pay for itself by cutting way down on damaged/returned items?

when I used to work in a restaurant the boxes the soda came in were quadruple walled and sealed in wax. I could lay one on its side and jump on it with both feet as hard as I could and couldnt crush the empty boxes.

We all know and so does SS, that UPS and FedEx certainly don't give a crap about our products and that damages WILL occur in shipping to boxes. I haven't received a truly mint box from SS in years. When they first began production of the 12 inch monsters the figures were all packed in generous oversize boxes packed with peanuts and EVERY figure arrived nice and minty. Then over the years those WORTHLESS "sleeves" began to be used as the shipping boxes and for those of us that live far from the West coast know they do not hold up to shipping. Plain and simple. I've emailed SS many times and they do not respond. I am just about to quit buying or supporting this company in any way............................Larry

I got my free Elessar Crown today and it was packed better than the $60 12" figures I have received. It was in a big box with the plastic ballon things (not sure what their exact name is) all around it. I havn't had any problems yet and I think the sticker is a good start to fixing the problem but ultimatly bigger boxes with peanuts will be the best way to do it.

Unfortuanately, I don't think it'll help. I just recieved a replacement box for my PF Buffy and sadly the box was crushed. In the case the problem was that SS shipped me an empty box without the inner styrofoam packaging, making the box very fragile. It seems that something heavy was thrown on top if it and crushed it.

I've now contacted SS again and asked them to please send me yet another replacement box, but this time to please include the inner styrofoam packaging. Let's see how that goes.

this label won't help. because i feel it's more meant for the receiver than the delivery guy. it's like instructions on what you should do if you received the box damaged. that's about it.

I think it's cool that SS it taking steps to prevent damage from happening; I myself have never received a damaged box from them and I hope I never will!

I think its up to the drivers discretion. I ordered the 1/4 Predator and they just left it on my front porch with a note on my door stating it was there. Luckly no one took it but someone did steal my order from Amazon worth over $100 and I asked them to have someone sign for the replacement and they said they could not do that unless its $500 or more.

On a side note, I remember the Cave troll shipping in a huge box with the inner styrofoam packaging and lots of people were complaining about damaged then too.
