I thought this would be interesting. Ever since I was a child I have been ambidextrous. I do different tasks with different hands. Any of you have this? I am also primarly a right hander but left eye dominant. Which makes me even more unusual. Below are some of the things I do and with which hand.

Write - Right Hand
Throwing - Right Hand
Shooting - Left Handed
Playing Pool - Left Handed
Skate Board - Left Footed or "Goofy Foot"
Eating a Steak - I am left handed and cut with my right
Eating something without a knife - I then become right handed
Bow & Arrow - Right Hand
Hockey Stick - Left Hand
Punch and Kick - Would prefer to punch with my right as well as kick
Pugil Sticks - This one was tough and almost got me knocked out. I couldn't decide how I wanted to hold it. LOL!
Bowling - Right Hand

I can pick my nose with both hands. I just said nose for the sake of decency, but hey, I really can pick my nose with both hands and at the same time if necessary. :lol

I'm a goofy foot also and I dig left handed. Pretty much right handed for everything else.

Years ago I broke my right wrist and couldn't use it for a long time.
So, since then I've been a fairly well-balanced kind of girl. :D

I can only work left handed in reverse. I can handwrite backwords with my left, forwards with my right, or both at the same time in mirror image. Makes teaching fun : )

I have a friend that can do that, she is left handed but can write backwards with her right hand or mirror image with both at the same time..............freaks me out every time she does it......so cool!!!!!

Isn't ambidextrus being able to do the same task with both hands, not simply being able to do various tasks with the non-dominant hand?

Like being able to write with both hands equally well?

Yeah, you're absolutely right. By looking at this thread alone, one would think that being ambidextrous simply means, having the ability to use one's left hand. Ok, so by that logic, I guess that all right handed people are ambidextrous when they go to the bathroom? Now, please don't let me elaborate on that :D.

Being ambidextrous is an extremely rare quality. I remember that my grandfather was ambidextrous, and had the ability to write with both hands quite clearly. Also, he used to work as a carpenter, and could interchange tools quite easily in either hand: hammering with his right hand on one occasion, and hammering with his left on another.

So, unless you can completely substitute your left hand for your right hand (or vice versa) in any task, you are not ambidextrous.

I use my right hand for everything except one task...had to learn it but at least now the forearms are of equal girth.

Yea, same thing with me. I had my arm in a cast for like 8 months when I was like ten and had to learn how to do everything with my other hand. Ever since then, I can pretty much do anything with both hands.
