for example:

be

Do you know how to count how many times the letter "a" occured in each cell?

Mine is more elaborate than the example I provided.

I've never tried to count letters in a cell. I know you can do numbers. If there is I'm sure it would be in the formula section tab.

I've done some pretty elaborate excel spreadsheets, but that sounds like something that would need to be coded.

Try =LEN(cellref)

I believe it includes spaces between letters in the count.

Edit. At first I thought you wanted to know how many letters in a cell. I just realized thats not what you're asking. Can you explain a little further.

I don't think there is a predesigned formula to do that. The best I found was "Search" but that just returns the position of the first occurance of that letter in a field.

Because I'm an EXCEL nerd myself, I'm curious what you're needing that for.
