Hey guys. So having a passion for this hobby, I've decided I want to be pro active and start making some stuff on my own(kit bashing is one thing, customizing a whole 'nutha!). As much as I'd love head sculpting, I just don't have that talent in me and there's plenty of you out here who are ridiculously skilled with it. I'd like to try my hand at sewing together 1/6 clothes.

My uncle used to make his own suits and gowns for the women, but he's busy being an EMT so I don't want to eat up his time. Just wondering if any of you fine gentlefreaks out there have any advice or some sites you can send my way to get the ball rolling. I've never done any type of sewing before so this is completely new and scary for me lol. I thank you in advance and good day!

I think a good start would be to get to know your machine and practice straight stitch. Then maybe buy a decent 1/6 suit (say DiD, they can be got cheap from a parted out figure), take it apart to see how it was put together, then practice resewing it. That's how I learned my tailoring.
There's also loads of stuff on Google about general machine sewing.

I didn't even think of that. Honestly, I don't even have a machine yet but was looking into old 70s-80s Singers. How would you go about making patterns for 1/6? Is it just taking measurements of the body your using? Obviously baby stepping into that but figure for future reference. Thanks for the advice.

Yeah, just measure from the body. I'd cut the piece from scrap material first, see if it fits. Cut it to size plus your hem, then you can copy to paper for a pattern if you want to make a few.
Yep, older machine will give you a bit of weight and sturdiness. Mine's from the 80's.

Figured I could just ask here rather than make a whole new thread...

Is there anywhere with good 1/6 scale clothing patterns? Or just specifically pants for Phicen bodies. I can't seem to get the crotch seam right!

I would say, for the crotch seaming try the ruse in post #2--buy a pair similar, then pick it apart, see what the mechanism of manufacture is. Some of these tricks for tiny clothes are ingenious, once revealed! Often there is also a fixed order of steps--get it wrong (or try to be smart) you come unstuck and have to unpick the lot and start again. Often, the order doesn't even become apparent even after disassembly, you have to work it out. It's always the most sensible--the people making this stuff have been doing it for years.
