Just had this conversation with a good friend and we have both pretty much reached our saturation point with Star Wars. We've been collecting since we were both about 5 years old and have pretty much agreed that we've had our fill. We are devout fans but there comes a point when enough is enough. Lucas is really stretching it now. It's time to put it to bed. I know some of you fanboys will vehemently disagree (jlcsmu) but I'm exhausted. I don't have another square inch to keep buying this stuff. I've had my fill. I've OD'd on Star Wars. Not just Sideshow, but Star Wars collecting in general.

actually I have alot more in me.. as I don't have much and didn't collect much. :lol

why do you think hes rehashing so much? I think it's for the younger generations.

This probably depends on the format of what you collect, I would be more inclined to agree if I collected the action figures or busts. Seeing as though I only do the prop replicas and PF figures, there still is a LOT I would like to see done.

Every time I think I am Star Wars'd out, something new comes along to get me excited again. I have gotten pretty selective with what I collect. I gave up on Hasbro figures a long time ago. Those got me pretty cynical. But companies like sideshow keep turning out great stuff that makes me feel good about donating money to Lucasfilm again. Anything that has to do with episode IV in particular. No matter what has happened in the intervening years, A New Hope is still inspiring to me. I'm really excited to read the new "Making of..." book and I will probably attend the Celebration since it's the 30th..

It's ironic. It's the 30th Anniversary and I just don't care. Not going to C4. I'd rather go to Comic Con. I glanced at that new book and passed. Couldn't bring myself to fork out the cash. I'm spent.

I just got back into it via SSC after divorcing myself from it at the age of 18. So it's all fresh to me, and I don't have boxes and boxes of 4 inch figures in the closet.

(Okay, I experimented with the Hasblow 12" a couple of years ago, but I never inhaled.)

Nope!

I'm George's Beyatch for LIFE!!!!!!

My wife has pretty much had her fill though.

I had a big purge the last year and got rid of the majority of my collection which now consists of :-

Complete set of Vintage Figures
Complete Set of Episode One Figures (no, I don't know why either...)
Every different Anakin figure produced
Best version of any ship piloted by Anakin/Luke in the movies (3 3/4 scale)
Sideshow 1/6 natch (together with some kitbashes and the better Hasblo 12's)
GG Animated Maquettes (still need Obi folks...)
Luke PF's
MR Scaled Replicas
All 'art of' and Reference books
Complete set of one sheets

And that's scaled down drastically I used to have boxes and boxes and boxes of the stuff just sitting there. Even know I'll come across a random box at home stuffed with SW mech.

I also have a full set of Anakin Skywalker Robes that will be displayed on a mannequin in the corner of my collecting room.

I've chosen Star Wars'd out, but in actual fact I'm probably somewhere in the middle with the whole merchandising thing.

I'll buy about 2 or 3 pieces of SW merchandising a year and I stick to certain lines like GG mini busts or Medicom figures.

That way I only get the really cool stuff that I want and don't get bogged down with the various items released.

I'm not Star Wars'd out but I'm certainly taking things much easier with their merchandise than I was a few years ago.

I love Marvel collectibles first and foremost, so SW was never my main priority in the first place really.

I gave up on Hasbro in about '99 ( though I am picking up the McQuarrie Concept figures ) and now just stick to the 12" SST line . I have most of the Hasbro 12" stuff which falls into 3 catagories , the stuff to sell , the stuff to hang on to (for when my 3 year old son is a little older!) and the stuff to customise/bash . This 3rd cat is the one that has given me my 2nd ( or 3rd or 4th ) wind . I don't have the display space I used to have but with the 12" ers "collector friendly " packaging , I am quite happy to have the collection sitting in the loft and have 1 or 2 figures displayed , knowing that they can be replaced in the box and their place taken by the next couple of figures . ( They hold a lottery in the loft to see who's turn it is on the display shelf). It is worth remembering though guys , you DON'T have to buy EVERYTHING that says Star Wars on the packaging! :D

What's it matter who I give my $$$$$ too? Like Marvel isn't some huge company (owned by another HUGE company?) so who cares. Lucas gets my money more than anyone, I don't resent him for it. The guy made a spectacular series of films, visually and story wise (not so much acting) and it deserves my cash. Go capitalism. Capitalism owns, just make up an awesome story and sell it to the right bunch of yokels at the right time, and you're rich. :chew

Not at all. I was a few years ago because I got tired of crappy products Hasbro was poutting out and there not really being a "high end" collectible market for SW.

With SS's SW PF's and other compaines like Code 3 doing nice ships and GG's busts ( sorry, I like them ) and Master Replicas doing some nice stuff I have gotten back in to it.

I was thinking about this the other day. I'm currently at the point of over saturation. I know a lot of it has to do with CIV coming up, but it seems everything is SW related right now. I don't think I could ever be tired of SW, but I'm ready for something new. I can't wait for the new CW series and then the TV show after that. There certainly needs to be more than two choices in that poll.

I'd say my peak of "over saturation" was the fall after ROTS, by that time I think it was way more shoved in our faces. Every toy aisle was nothing BUT Star Wars, now it's only a little section. Every grocery store, Star Wars EVERYWHERE. At least now it's kinda of slunk back to it's fan base a little more.

I don't really think you can get Star Wars'd out if you have other interests. If all you do if focus on SW then I could see how it could happen, but having other collection interests as well as many other hobbies outside of collecting should keep you busy enough I would think.

I collected a LOt of stuff from TPM onwards and sold it all a couple of years back at a great loss.Nearly 400 figures carded and a loose one of each too. Then recently, I was in awe of the Grievous statue(sideshow) and decided to get one PF per film so now I have two already, two on order and I am currently waiting for two to fill the gaps (ROTJ and AOTC).I would never revert to toys again though including 12" figures. You just THAt urge sometimes!!

Like many here I was done a few years ago. I had it with Hasbro and was able to sell everything off, at a great loss as well. I was completely out of the game , I thought I was done for good. One day surfing the web, somehow I stumbled upon the Sideshow website( I didn't even know about them, honestly). I saw the 1/6 Jedi Luke and I was hooked! I started researching and came upon Medicom and then this forum. I was back in it, just wiser about collecting this time, but it was the quality of the products that brought me back.

I'm not Star Wars'd out, because I think that I buy what I truly want now. I'm not buying "Darth Vader, with removable hand", "Darth Vader with Partial reveal helmet" version .01 and .02 etc. etc.

I'm looking forward to the CW and Tv shows.
