I just closed my account over a dispute and am wondering how easily people navigate the collectable world without ebay.

amazon....

for new releases, just go to your local comic shop and ask them to buy things for you

I was a seller/buyer with 100% rep since 1999 until I got hit with some price extortion from a buyer (long story). When eBay refused to alter the hit to my rep I had them close my account indefinitely. The hunt for non-eBay collectibles led me here and I have been happy ever since. Sometimes I have to go to rather extensive means to hunt something down obscure but it is doable.

Lost about 900USD on Ebay because i bought the King Arts Captain America Shield from a HK Seller and never got it/or my money back so yeah no more ebay for me haha :slap

I've bought a few collectibles on and always had good experience...until last week. I bought the exclusive sideshow deadpool. The figure came without the headpool piece which was the reason I bought it in the first place. The item descriptions literally said it is exclusive and is coming with headpool. After not responding to my emails I had to file a return claim with eBay. Of course the buyer then responded and is giving me a full refund. I'm hoping by joining this site that I can start purchasing from others. I do have a feeling figures could be more expensive on this site, though. Guess we will see

....why spend 900 on a foreign sell........ :lol

I thought eBay had buyer protection???

Thats what i was thinking too :D

They basically told me that i should told them that i didnt got the Shield before it even got released.(Dunno how i should know that i will get scammed in 6 Month by that Guy) I got the Shield via Ebay on Preorder so yeah the 30Day Buyer Protection was gone and Paypal could not help either cuz i Po'd like 6 Month ahead of release :s

Made me feel better. I lost $68 dollars because I didnt provide the right tracking number for a return. It was the second time so I just closed the account. I guess Ill see how much ebay factors into collecting.

you could at least dispute that if you used credit card in your paypal.

Yup, I filed a fraud charge with my CC company against a seller when they didn't send me a statue I PO'd and he didn't respond to my emails. Paypal also told me I was over my time limit and they couldn't help me. However, after investigating, my CC company forced Paypal to issue me a refund. This was many years ago and I learned my lesson. No POing statues from ebay. Not ever.

I haven't been into the commerce section for a while but generally items can be found cheaper here than ebay. A lot of forum sellers will simply align their prices with ebay, but be patient and good deals can be had.

I've been lucky over the years. Only ever had to file one claim due to a seller full of excuses and he FINALLY shipped after I filed. Then I dealt with 1 douche buyer who wanted a partial refund because a couple of Gentle Giant Potter bust boxes had normal shelf wear.....not dented up.....just normal shelf wear. I told him no because he contacted me before bidding and told him they had normal shelf wear and if he was concerned then please don't bid. He placed a bid anyway and won. I knew he'd be trouble and he was. I refused a partial refund and he refused to leave a positive feedback........at least he didn't leave a neg.
