This should bring back some memories.

Ahhh, I worked at a place called mountain west research. We were the telemarketers who called out in 2008 giving surveys about the presidential elections. I never new there were so many racists and dimwitted americans. I quit fairly fast. It SUCKED.

I did a year at MCI, cold calling long distance. I recall heading to work on 9-11, and was sent home. I was absolutely driving on fumes and had to pay inflated gas prices that local stations were later sued for by the state in our area, but that were vastly cheaper than today's normal prices. A few days later, I was back at MCI cold calling on their Delta skymiles program. Good...times....

My personal favorite.

I did for a company that was contracted for Verizon when they were starting their DSL services. Funny because the people we were calling were existing Verizon customers that were in the same time zone as I was, and I'd always get the person that assumed I was somewhere else in the world who would ask "Do you have any idea what time of the night it is??" I'd always reply "Yes, according to my watch it's...."

I hated that job. Short hours, but you worked on commission and only had one ten minute break during your shift. Also you were under a lot of pressure to make sales. Just not worth it to get yelled at by almost every other person you'd call.

I sold insurance over the phone, it was horrible, but when sales came through after finally securing a meet and greet they were nice.

I also did collections for a mortgage company, another horrible job.
