Received my Apatosaurus maquette today. Nr:39, non EX. Its size certainly is impressive. Well worth the money IMO. Now, were to put it? :)

Hi Tupuxuara.

Even though I am disappointed with the paint job, I do plan on taking some awesome pictures of this beast. The sculpt is too beautiful for me not to photograph it. It may be a few weeks before I post any pics, as I am making an artificial base to use for my photo shoot. I'm also trying some new techniques to further enhance the realism of my pictures. As soon as I have taken pics, I'll definitely post them here. I may even try making a video. ;)

Apatosaurus arrives tomorrow, and my Foulkes Allo arrived today. It's a madhouse.

Edit:
Sounds awesome, Jer. Will it be distinguishable from the original base? In the review photos, people will want an idea of what the original piece looks like.

I'll shoot a few with the original base, but the others will be without. That's what I like about this piece, it can stand on it's own. I'll also be shooting some good pics of my Foulkes Apatosaurus as well. I'll have pics of both separate, and together. The pics with both Apatos in the same shot will be the difficult ones, as I'll have to use forced perspective to make them mesh well. :lol

Btw, please post pics of your Allosaurus when you get a chance. :D

It's basically the same color scheme as the one you saw (and beautifully photographed) at WF. However, Steve painted the eyes on rather than using taxidermy style eyes, resulting in an Allo that is much like the Sideshow rendition. Shane offered to replace the eyes for me, so I've sent it back to him. This is the only shot I took.

For those interested, it will come back looking like this with new eyes.

Sorry it didn't get done right the first time. I guess if you want glass eyes, you need to specify. Did you ask him to put glass eyes in? I know Shane didn't put glass eyes in for my Apatosaurus, but I wasn't going to complain. I didn't specify that I wanted glass eyes, so that was my bad. I assumed they would come as standard. lol

I can't wait to see pics when you get it back. :)

I made the same assumption. But like I said, it's going to look like the same one you saw, only very poorly photographed.

But to keep this thread on-track... who else has received their Apato?

Mine was delivered today. I'll try to take some pics tonight if I can. If not, this week. Nothing of my stuff is on display (all in boxes still from the move), so I won't be able to display it next to any other dinos.

Congrats Mightytrex. Your pics with the box in the background, show how different the prototype piece differs from the production piece. Still, it's one beautiful sculpt. That's a big skull exclusive, no? :horror :lol

:lol I know right the skull is huge its a shame the paint is so off but it dose not really bother me. I hope the stego is better!

The eyes do look like the SS Allos...not a bad thing, but after it's done once I like something a little different. I hope Steve does paint mine up in more..aggressive I guess..tones. I told him I really liked the CM Studio Allo so hopefully some nice markings.

Shane did tell me the eyes have to be requested..but since your original piece had them then this new should have as well I think.

Mighty, your Apato does look softer on the colors..maybe it's the lighting ?

I'm still not impressed with that skull..lol Maybe if it were more detailed or 1/1 ? I just expect this when I think Apatosaurus Skull :

The one included looks off..the lower jaw too thick, the upper snout too rounded..and just has a " soft " feel. :/

Great pics everyone. Here are some of mine. Apologies in advance for the mess in the background and the poor lighting. We're still settling in the new house so nothing is unpacked, and my light tent is... somewhere (although the apatosaurus would be too big for it!)

Gotta run, so will give my thoughts later today.

Well, since I've already got a 1/4 representation of that Diplodocus skull you pictured, I'm happy to have this Apatosaurus skull as well. Especially since the 1/12 Philip Platt Apatosaurus skeleton is a bit out of my budget.:( I know the skull is just a skull, but its better than nothing. :lol

Heck, that whole Apatosaurus sculpt could be proven wrong tomorrow, so I take it all with a grain of salt. lol I get what your saying though, the skull is definitely "soft" looking. It's just that I've never expected the skulls to be the greatest in the world. They are just exclusives after all. :dunno

Btw, if you could, maybe you can ask Steve to send you pics of your Allosaurus before he sends it. If Martin is willing to repaint something that a customer doesn't like, I would expect someone as talented as Steve to be able to do the same. I mean, you are paying him to build up this model.

Also, great pics Reinhardt! I'm glad you received your Apatosaurus safe and sound. If there is one thing Sideshow has done great with this piece, it's the shipping. So far we have at least five people who have received their Apatos without any breakages. :)

Got mine last night. I don't have a camera, so no pics. Sorry! I think its a great piece. The pain job doesn't bother me, but I usually don't notice things like that unless it looks really bad. I had a big black splotch on my Spider-Man PF's head that I didn't notice for a year. :lol

I'm sure it is correct according to current theory, but the neck really bothers me. It looks so big with such an itty bitty head and then there are those tiny eyes...

I think the figure looks great on top of the bookshelf. I'm going to get a new one and have all my dinosauria figures on it. I think it will make quite a display.

Hello Reinhardt! Glad to see new pictures of Apatosaurus:) You managed to capture the most important details. After I looked at the pictures, I can say that my favorite dinosaur
PS: In my view, does not look bad at all like painted:yess:
I can not wait to come to Europe:pray::pray::pray::pray::gah:
