I read the article, but just because they gave him tat's doesn't mean there creating a all new Aquaman with no ties to the original lore... Even the article says there just speculating since nothing official has been announced.

This is all true that it's all speculation, but that's all we're doing as well. Speculating that if half of what the article says about his powers, origin change to go with Polynesian fit and link to command of the oceans is true, then it's not really Aquaman.

Yes, don't change the core characteristics of a character, meaning origin, look, personality, etc. When you do that it fails most of the time. I know that's how I feel and I'm sure others do too. I understand you're targeting a broad audience and not just the die-hard comic/pop culture people, but in the end those are the ones who are going to give you longevity and validation. They'll talk about it, write about it, tell their friends about it, etc. Marvel understands this for the most part, Sony doesn't, and DC film division definitely doesn't, save for Batman which was more a self contained vision by a certain group.
I like Jason Mamoa, but Aquaman to me needs to be a certain look. If they at least get his origin and character traits correct then I can probably forgive the way they'll physically portray him.
Look at what happened to Green Lantern. Reynolds wasn't a bad cast per se, but DC making him into an idiot and the story into complete garbage killed it off.
Also, who knows how that new FF is gonna fare. If the story is good, maybe people will forgive the casting of Johnny Storm.

This is totally on my list. Even though the hook is iconic with Aquaman, I think it would be pretty awesome to see him with his water hand! It gave him so many more options then just his hook in the comics.

I would prefer the hook over the water hand. Interesting choice though. I'd like the hook hand more if we get an extra head that's bearded w/long hair.

This is one of those rare occasions where I really don't care which switch out hand they use (if they go that route). I'll be displaing him with both normal hands and the trident when I get him. I just want a classic and clean looking Aquaman. I do hope the rest of you get whatever switch out parts you want. It's always nice to have options.

Classic is how I would display him as well but it would be pretty cool to change it up every once in a while. It would also be pretty sweet if they made a Black Manta PF though the odds of that happening are very slim.
