Re: Aragorn PF!!!

Sorry to hear that, Jen. Welcome to my world. :monkey2

Obviously something is either wrong with the packaging or they shouldn't have done this bang the way they did.

Re: Aragorn PF!!!

Jen ... :horror Oh no, couldn't have happened to a sweeter soul. :(

This does seem to be a major issue - bummer; it is such a nice piece, I hate to see/hear negative buzz.

Re: Aragorn PF!!!

Man, this is officially a problem with this piece. :lecture

Sorry guys and Jen. :monkey2

:monkey2:monkey2:monkey2 He is beautiful though...I'm already drooling. :drool :drool :lol I think I'm going to just glue it. I was inspecting the break closer and it's right at a sort of crease in the hair, so it would be almost impossible to notice unless it was pointed out. Still a bummer though.

Re: Aragorn PF!!!

Man, that REALLY sucks!

I can't tell you what to do Jen, but I do know that if mine arrives like that I will most likely be sending it back for replacement. I can deal with minor things (small chips in less prominent areas, paint rubs, and the like), but a break like this, right in front of the character's face, that would be too much for me to accept.

I don't know what kind of glue you plan to use, but I just recently tried the new super glue from Gorilla Glue on one of my broken pieces, and it worked better than any other glue I've ever tried. Just FYI.

Re: Aragorn PF!!!

I know...but now that he's in my hands, I don't want to give him up. :lol Hope your's isn't damaged......

I'll find out tomorrow. Unless I get to work from home than I'll have to wait til Friday.

Thanks for the tip - I'll try to find some. I'm pretty confident that once it's glued you wont' be able to tell - like I said it was a clean break on a crease so the slight little line from where it would be reattached would be well concealed. At least I hope anyway. :lol He is an amazing piece though - the detail on his clothes is top notch.

Re: Aragorn PF!!!

I forgot to check out the rest of the figure after I saw the break, but the clothing is top notch.

Re: Aragorn PF!!!

You're piece still looks kinda stuck to the face Jen. What it loose in the box for stuck to the face?
Mine was flying around the box and the dagger stud was inbetween the box and styrofoam.

The broken piece was kinda stuck to his face, but when I lifted him up the whole thing fell off. I'm posing him now without his broken bang - need to get some glue at the store and then I'll try repairing him. Everything else was well packaged - nothing loose flying about.

Re: Aragorn PF!!!

I received my Aragorn yesterday and had the same problem with the lock of hair on his forehead. It looks to me like it's not really broken but was meant to be glued on in production as a separate piece because of the dowel-like end that fits into the other side of the hair piece. I super glued it back on, put some putty into the seam, touched up the the area with a little raw umber paint, and now it looks better than it did originally. I also repainted the top of the base to match the Lurtz PF. The top of the Aragorn base was mono-tonal, so I dry brushed on some transparent burnt umber followed by a touch of sap green lightly dry brushed onto the ground in front and between the stones, and now it's a perfect match with Lurtz's base. I'm also tempted to add highlights to the hair and repaint the eyes.

Show us pics, please. :D :D I'm interested to see how your base looks. I don't have the skills to do all of that - so I gotta just stick with gluing the lock of hair. :lol

Re: Aragorn PF!!!

Jen, send it back. You spent a pretty penny on this piece and you shouldn't have to settle for one that is damaged.

I know if mine arrives damaged, it's going right back.

It's the only way SS is going to improve their QC. If we all settle for damaged pieces, it's going to continue.

I'm still unhappy over the change in the likeness / paint. I'll be damned if I'm gonna accept it being damaged to boot.

You are right. :monkey2:monkey2:monkey2 I will admire it for one more day and then send him back. I didn't think of it that way about QC. Wouldn't want anyone to think that a small clean break is acceptable, because really it's not. I just hate to cause a fuss - but I did spend good $$ on it. :monkey2
