I'm out as well, Skittle holders and light-ups aren't for me. :monkey5

Someone must own the rights to the regular busts and that's why GG has to improvise. IMHO these are 100x better than the SSW.

Great, than you really ought to collect them. :D

And yes, I am sure that the SSW licensing comes into play, but these are just not my bag. I like the bases, they are a real step-up from their other lines, but given my past GG collection, I am skipping them. They can usually be counted on for the likeness (but certainly not always), however the materials they use are not as nice as polystone, and their paint often looks much less life like, too pale and chalky.

Yes, therein lies the problem and why I don't collect Gentle Giant for the most part.

I've seen the issues you're talking about with some of the GG busts but I must say that the Potter line is amazing. I think all of them look incredible. I don't have any of the SSW busts so I can't be too criticle of them, but from what I've seen the likeness is off in quite a few of them.

I'll be getting the GG LOTR bust, but the WETA bust are awesome, some are off, but for the most part their amazing.

Ok, so I was at SDCC looking at these. Now, the LOTR busts were not available to be seen and touched for the most part. Not to mention that they were under some strong spotlight for one to see the paint and texture well. Also, when I bought the Shocktrooper, the paint app and texture wasn't on par for my taste to SS/W's busts.

Still, perhaps what's needed is to display these busts on their own, and under a spotlight, because even the the Obi-Wan and Slave Leia looked pretty good under those lights.

And don't forget about convention exclusives that you have to pay through the nose on eBay to get or pray you get the Collector's Club email notification so you can wade through online troubles ten times worse than PPO day just to get your order submitted. :computer

Maybe?!?! I used to have quite a few of the SW line, and have seen just about all of the HP stuff (and was also at SDCC for the LOTR). There is just something very noticeably different about their choice of materials up close. The skin tones are almost uniform, as if there isn't much texture to the face. They come across to me much more toy-like as a result, more like most action figures in the face.

The edition sizes are about the same of the WETA bust. I wonder how good this line will do. When WETA did the line the Movies were coming out. I don't know how many new fans will jump on these and if WETA owners will buy. 2000 edition size is ok, but these bust won't be fortune makers like the WETA stuff was. Don't expect to buy these and see the prices go up.

I ordered Aragorn and the Ringwraith even though I'm happy with the WETA Aragorn and Ringwraith, can't judge the GG stuff until I see it in person. It will be nice to take comparison photos of both lines.

think they keep Aragorn low because they plan
to release 5-6 different outfits and poses ;)

No, they usually start new lines off with small ES to gauge interest. I like the smaller ES's though. But I do agree that we will see around 4-5 different Aragorn's if this line continues for years.

and Microsoft :lol

At least Microsoft is reimbursing some Xbox 360 owners who had to dish out $130 for the defective first batch of 360's.

And fortunately I'm one of them. Or maybe it's unfortunately since I had to deal with the problem.
