I'd think that the license agreement would mean they couldn't show anything not approved by Lucasfilm. Hopefully there will be more of a step by step process, but I wouldn't count on seeing variant sculpts, etc.

Sideshow was able to show the PF prototypes of Luke and Han at SDCC a couple of years back that had yet to be approved.

Actually I believe that those HAD been approved by LFL. Just as Vader had before he underwent major changes. I could be wrong though.
