I just bought two detolfs at IKEA. My car is a little small so I had to position and then reposition them to make them fit for the 3 hour ride home. I didn’t drop the boxes and I was pretty careful when I moved them. Is the glass well-protected inside the box? I would hate to get them home, and the glass is broke.

I would have opened them and checked for any issues if you live that far away. you have no way of knowing how they were handled before you got them.

If the length of your car means the middle of the long box will be unsupported, bring some old towels or rags or bits of cardboard to shove under the gap. There are styrofoam sheets in the spaces within the box so parts won't slide around inside. The boxes are made to be driven home. Just try to give it the same support it would get on the warehouse shelf at IKEA.

I actually got one shipped on my vacation and I took it on the plane. It actually survived when it dropped from the conveyor belt down to the other conveyor belt. Since it was big and I wrote all over the box FRAGILE, I thought they would have the courtesy to not put it on the luggage conveyor belt and carry it down where you pick up the over size luggage. But when I opened it up everything was fine.

they're packaged well but i've got two now that have crappy hinges. they weren't drilled out all the way so you can't put the glass door in. took like four trips trying to get it returned so i can get the right hinge. totally pain if there's a problem with the hinge part so check your parts before you assemble.

WOW these things are very nice.

One question concerning premium format figures. Can you display PFs on the glass shelf, or is it better to display them on the bottom since it's wood? I have my Hellyboy 2 PF (heavy PF) on the bottom, but I want to display him up a bit in order to see him better.

I thought about putting two glass shelves on top of each for added support, but I do not want to chance it.

Thoughts?

Lighter Pf's on the top to be safe.
Although I have seen some brave souls put some heavier guys, in my opinion, it is a big risk.

Haha they have to be, because on the way home when i got mine, with me and mum in the car, we ended up skidding out and put the car up, onto and over a median strip and then smashing back down onto the road, and when we got home, the precious detolf was fine........although the wrong effin color lol!

You could put it on top of the detolf and not on the glass shelves.

This always scares me when I see this in photographs. Theses things have little support in them and they wobble when touched. There is no way I would put a high-end piece on top of them.

I have 4 of them on carpet with material under the front feet to keep them level & stable. No problems at all.
