Are you getting multiple versions of the same character?

Right now I'm thinking "no" with the exception of Gandalf (Grey and White) and Aragorn (Ranger and King).

The really difficult decisions will be over Merry and Pippen. On the one hand I like their hobbit duds for fitting them into a Fellowship display. But since Frodo and Sam will have similar attire I also like the idea of having them in their ROTK armor.

If you *aren't* buying more than one version of a character, which versions are you choosing for those that have more than one distinct outfit?

For me:

Boromir (Fellowship attire)
Faramir (Ranger outfit)
Frodo and Sam (Hobbit clothes)
Eowen (Rohan armor)

I try to avoid it. In fact, I really hope SSC will not do multiple versions of one character.

I kinda feel the same way...I try to stay away from multiple figures of the same character...Unless they are all definitive variations of that character...Or they are diferent enough to justify buying multiples. I just canceled my SDCC Anakin for this reason. There was just not enough there to justify 2 figures. I have Aragorn on pre-order and if they released one as King I would pick that one up to. I have NO interest in multiple Hobbits, I may not even buy single versions of the Hobbits unless they are ALL in Fellowship costumes. Actually I think Aragorn is the only LOtR character I would be intersted in owning 2 of.

If I like it, I will get it. Especially Gandalf...............oh and maybe Aragorn..............

My sentiments exactly!:D

As others have said - if the figure is different enough from another piece, I don't mind multiples. For instance, if they were to do an Arwen in either the riding outfit, the red "mourning" dress, the Coronation outfit - I would get it even though I have the original white outfit statue. If they were to do Boromir in armor, I'd likely get it. And so on.

Like someone else said, I'm not interested in duplicates of the hobbits - frankly, I'm not interested in the hobbits at all. (heresy, I know!) Even in the original SS/WETA pieces, the only one I own is Pippin, and that's only because he has on Gondorian armor.

Creatures, on the other hand, I don't mind having duplicates of. If they want to do a new variation of the Moria orcs (or any Orc), the Nazgurl, the Wiki, the Balrog, the Fell Beast - bring 'em on!

hmm.. Difficult!

Will there be the exact same head sculpt or will they do a new one? I mean, there is several duplicates in the ssw line and they don't look the same. ex. Pippin, his bust looks pretty good, and the statue looks pretty good to, but they don't look like eachother. IMO. and then we have Pippin in the escape of the road wall plaque who looks another way.

Buy if they use the same head sculpt why just dont just make one figure and include all the diffrent outfits!

Though, Then wouldn't SS make as much money as they would if they sell one figure at the time

as long as its not just an easy redo on the character. but if its say... aragon ranger and king aragon then yes i would get both because they are different costumes and stuff. but i would say no to a LOTR and TTT aragon.

I agree with hairlesswookie. A Strider and an Elessar are different enough to warrant getting them both. Same with Gandalf the Grey and G. the White. I personally don't plan on getting "nine" Nazguls, though...

This line has so much potential. I'm looking forward to these figures more than any other SS line.

For me it depends on the character. I will absolutely get Gandalf both gray and white. Same with Aragorn--ranger and the outfit he wears to the black gate (is that Aragorn King? Or is Aragorn king his coronation armour?). I don't need more than one of any hobbits or anybody else, except maybe the women (gotta have those beautiful dresses) and Faramir in armour ('cause he's my favorite). It's all relative to the character. I just won't buy anything that's too similar to be visually akin to the casual observer.

It's a tough call. I'd love to have Faramir as a ranger, but then i'd also love to hae him in his shiny Gondorian armor.

Gandalf is a no-brainer. He's almost two completely different characters, so I'd get both.

Not sure about the wraiths. If they sell the Witchking first, then no. If it's a standard ringwraith first, I'll probably pick him up. I won't be able to help myself.

I only need one of each hobbit, and I'd much prefer them to be in their regular togs.

I don't need Eowyn in her armor, but I do want Theoden in his.

In the end, the only important question is: Where's my Mouth of Sauron?

Hmmm, most wanted LOTR 12"....that's actually a good question and something I'll have to think about! (Not that you asked....) :D

Right now, my most wanted figure is Gandalf the Grey. To me, he is the epitomy and symbol of The Lord of The Rings.

Ditto.

With the exception of Gandalf, I don't see any reason to repeat a character until all others were done. Eventually I'd like an Elessar or Helm's Deep Aragorn & I'll take Arwen in any outfit except that riding one.

But I really wish they'd include accessories that would span multiple movies ala Mace Windu's sabers. Sadly, SS chose not to include the elven cloak or vambraces with Strider or the Lothorien bow/quiver and Helm's Deep armor with Legolas.

Though, at this rate of production, we won't have to worry about repeated characters for years.

I don't think I'd get mulitples of the same character other than Aragorn, I will get him if they make a version as king in his armor. The only other exception would be Elrond in his armor from the prologue scene/battle vs. Sauron because I'd use the outfit to make other elves in the line posed with him. I would get 3 or 4 Elves in armor if they did one like those that showed up at Helm's Deep.

So far Sideshow is more interested in making a figure of everyone that wore a robe in the three films and basically ignoring the ones in armor.

I just plan on getting just about everything. I wouldnt mind 3 Aragorns eventually. Also I would want at least two of Faramir Eowyn Legolas, and of course Gandalf the Grey and the White.

Woopsies I've already got the exc. and regular Boromir on order so I guess that counts as multiple versions of the same character. Boromir is my fave character so I'm guessing im gonna keep one boxed not sure which now tho.

I'm aiming to be a completist of this line. Its not too pricey so looks pretty realistic to me.
