I'd love to see some riders on this beast.. for scale and coolness factor...

Yes that is being considered and looked into

Very cool, but I think they should have mass to them. Make them look big and hefty. Hes pretty slim in my opinion...just my opinion. I prefer a more fleshed out giant lizard/dino look.

Some will be slim, some will be massive. We will put out a few and see how successful they are, then we save the best for later with more hefty and bigger dragons

dragons are tough because they could take up way too much room if their too big. I don't think the scale you showed is too small because are there a large amount of ppl that will buy a huge, generic dragon if it's $400-500? I have the reign of fire bust from SS and it's awesome, so you can think about doing busts as well. Lots of people love dragons, it's just a question of how much will they pay for one. Maybe make them the same size as the SS Dino line?

I tend to agree, we dont want them at a high price range. $250-$350 max

I always liked this dragon, hailing from Japanese folklore..This is the Red Fire Dragon, an immensely powerful demon dragon. He made his home in an active volcano..In the old lava caverns he hides away his vast treasures of gold and the most powerful item in all the world -- the Scepter of Domination...

A sort of diorama is being considered. We have to factor in the costs and what the response is with the release of the first 2 dragons.

Was a big fan of many of the McFarlane ones so I'm excited to see high end dragons statues :yess:

Digging this first one ; it looks like he just found his opponent/prey and is about to attack.

I would agree with this comment to a certain extent. Some dragons should look massive, but some should be a bit more "slim". If they all had the same kind of body mass, there's a chance I would find it redundant and boring in the long term.

As for the scale, I’ve read you ARH guys like your statues HUGE ;) and I know the current trend is "bigger is better" but I can't say I'm on the same boat.
Using references many collectors can relate to, I’d be ok if most of these statues could be displayed on :
- a Detolf shelf (width: 16 3/4 ", depth: 14 3/8 ", heigh : 15”), as your first project seems to fit perfectly in it
- or in a Besta Cube (width: 23 5/8 ", depth: 15 3/4 ", height: 25 1/4 ") for the biggest ones.

As for the poses, the “guarding a treasure” one is indeed a classic. I’d love to see an open wings Dragon

Adding human characters ? Why not, but definitely not with every release.

I’d also like if we see some dramatic scenes such as :
- two dragons fighting against each other ( ala King Kong vs V Rex Weta statue)
- a victorious Dragon above a defeated one
- or even a severly wounded/dying dragon, something like a noble death theme.

Anyway, I can't wait to hear more from this new line :clap:clap:clap

:goodpost:
I agree. We should keep them affordable but detailed.
I was also a fan of McFarlane dragons.

Nice, so this is 1/6? And what will the price range gonna be ?

Price range should be lower than the 1/4, expecting somewhere between $250-350 but we are not sure yet until they get near production. Our goal is to make them affordable. It could be lower if all goes well.

What a amazing announcement!!! I kinda think the first dragon shown does have a lil of the lizard look as mentioned, but looks very well done from the frontal shot shown, i have been waiting for something like this myself and if done right im definatly on board. Will be visiting this thread often and truly hoping to be knocked off my feet and ordering a few of these!
big thick and fantasy elements with a highly detailed base, i like the red dragon you posted.

Thank you for your support. We are a small company and I am not going to tease you, it will take time to put these into production, so you have to be patient with us, we hope Sideshow will pick up our line

I completely agree. I am a huge fan of dragons if you guys didn't already know, and to be honest, i'm not feeling the digital renderings as seen in the first post.

These renderings are not final product, there are many changes that occur. Also, this is just the very first Dragon

:exactly: All great suggestions! The sculpt is fantastic, the pose is great, the scale is fine, keep them coming! The only thing that worries me is the paint apps. If they are not done to a very high standard (translucent, multilayered colors), you risk diminishing these beautifully detailed sculpts to bland, generic toyish type products.

Simply put. DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKES Sideshow keeps making with their Dinosauria line. Where great sculpts are greatly compromised by generic, uninspired paint apps! Good luck!:pray::pray:

We will do our best, our products tend to have good details. Its up the master painter and the factory. Hopefully we will see this painted in by Christmas time.

That would be another good point for this new line. I know nothing is set yet, but I hope you'll be able to do it. You then could definitly count me in.

You could make busts like this too Alex :exactly:

you would hate me even more if I told you how much I payed for it :lol. Seriously though, it's the best dragon statue I've ever seen.

The only input that I have is that I hate dragons with forelegs. Hind legs and claws on the wings only à la the 1981 film "Dragonslayer."
The wings of a Dragon are their arms. Another front set of legs looks ridiculous.

Hmm, guess that depends on your pont of view. To me, Dragons with no forelegs are Wyvrens, a close cousin to Dragons. I much prefer Dragons with 4 legs and wings, but to each his own I guess

Sideshow..

I should have guessed! Its from the movie isnt it!
What was the edition size, and how did it sell?

Busts appeal to a whole different collector. I think we will stay with the full scale statues.

Bumped, because this line has the potential to be something truly special.:wave

Yes I hear you, we are listening to you and will be taking pics of this first dragon, and sending it to be pro painted very soon!
It will be some time but I think by Nov. we will have very cool painted pics of the statue.

I've heard SS was considering doing a Dragon line at some point..much like Dinosauria. I have a large dragon collection including pieces by Windstone , Mcfarlane and the late/great Enchantica line.

This first piece looks pretty nice, I'd have to see one done and painted to say just whether or not I would go for it though. Size is good for starters. It's the bigger pieces I prefer of course. If possible use glass eyes for them. It's a little something that would make the Dinosauria pieces MUCH better.

Always thought the harry potter horntail design was pretty cool.

Look forward to seeing what comes of this :rock.

Some dragon scale, ...................just for the hell of it!:wink1:
