With LotR pretty much not being the apple of most collector's eyes, i still hope for the fellowship to be completed on the 12" scale - Gimli please! But as I was eying the "Armies of..." line in the SW section, I thought just how awesome it would've been to have a "Armies of Middle Earth" line. WETA was so great at weaving a vivid tapestry for each of the armies in the film - you all should definitely check out the "Weapons of..." book. There are detailed reasons for the shape and design of each particular weapon/armor - making it appear as if they were anthropologically researched. Ok, I'm sounding geeky. If this line could happen, my top pick would be an Easterling warrior. The 6" ToyBiz figure had tons of weapons and had that 'ninja' look about them - and who doesn't like ninjas? :)

Easterling PF would definitely get my vote . . .Can you imagine how much detail there would be on this figure? He'd have an extra pair of hands for all his armaments. One thing I would have loved to see was a showdown with Easterlings in the movie. I dont think they showed any scenes like that on the movies.

I would love to see something like this... kinda feels like it will never happen, but I'm hopeful.

As soon as I saw this thread I just about went nuts because I thought it was going to be an official line out of LOTR like military for SW.:lol

So sorry to have dashed your hopes - but maybe we can all petition SS to reinvigorate the LotR line in the coming year. Especially since The Hobbit movie seems to be coming close to reality, collector interest may act as impetus to get the line rolling again. I really hope that SS will continue to carry the license to another level in 2009. Hot Toys is producing some A+ sculpts (check out the incredible bank robber Joker and Harvey "Two-Face" Dent figures - pure awesomeness). This will raise the bar, and undoubtedly raise the SS's prices! Ouch!

To have an "armies of middle earth" series would necessitate being able to produce armored figures, and Sideshow has only just started doing that even with its cash cow Star Wars. Unfortunately it seems unlikely that they would spend the time and money on it at this point.

If it takes off successfully with Star Wars, they might get it in their heads that armor is what this line needs to come back to life. That, and more than one figure a decade.

If it's true they are killing the 1/6th line of LOTR, then I would think it'd be doubtful they would even considering starting a new one. But I love the sound of the idea!!

I know it is high improbable but I would love to see Hot Toys get the LOTR liscense and dish out some DK quality LOTR figures.:monkey3

I hope so. But, if they don't intend to do armored figures, it's nice to know there's a company out there who could take up the slack.

Here's my list of most wanted in armor:

Frodo & Sam as orcs
Pippin in Gondorian armor
Merry in Rohirrim armor
Aragorn at the Black Gate
Legolas at the Black Gate (same as Helm's Deep?)
Theoden
Eowyn as Dernhelm
Eomer
Faramir & Boromir as Gondorian knights
Isildur
Elendil
Elrond
Gil-Galad

Sauron
Mouth of Sauron
Witch King, Battle of the Pelennor Fields
Uruk-hai
Moria orcs
Mordor orcs

Right. No one is ever going to make those figures. (I'd settle for just the hobbits.)

They'll stay right there on the shelf next to Clancy and his medieval armor.
