Alright, who can explain this to me?

My friend has always liked this Jim Lee print (Kissing the Knight), but it's always cost around $450+. I looked around on Google and saw that there are a few select stores selling it, all at the same price, and that they all adhere to the same "limited out of 250 copies" fact.

So, one of the stores is Sideshow and they have a notice stating that "These limited edition art prints are custom made when you place your order." So do all stores print these out as they're ordered, spread the word to the other stores that one has been made, and then each store recognizes that they can only print out one less? Basically, if there 250 copies and 'Store A' sells one print then that means 'Store B' and 'Store C' can now only print 249, right? Or is it 'Store A-B-C' can only sell fifty copies each and the sale of one at one store won't affect the others?

Another thing is that I purchased the Batman only print with the same 250 limited number count and signed by Jim Lee and it cost me considerably less than this Batman/Catwoman one (about four times less). Anyone have any idea why this "Kissing the Knight" print is so dam expensive?

maybe it's an company exclusivity thing where they can print so many with their logo on it...similar to DF (dynamic forces). however, i'm sure there are a lot of online stores that could sell this for considerably less by just grabbing the picture from google images and putting it thru a decent printer and paper. that's why i only like to buy prints straight from the person b/c i get a little paranoid that i'm not buying this from someone who could just make it at home.
then again, maybe you're right. maybe store A, B, & C all order from the same print company and that's how they keep track of the limited 250 or however many. i would try to just buy it straight from the source...for authenticity and might be cheaper if you cut out the middle man.

acme makes some small ass giclees. I think the 250 is the number acme made

I know where to get the real size 2.5'x3' versions

Oooh, tell me tell me tell me!! :)

And whomever prints these puts their own branding on the piece :cuckoo: I bought my Batman one already framed and I don't see anything like that on the art or the 1/2"-3/4" border that's left exposed from the matting. Is there possibly a brand under the matting somewhere on the border?
