I think SS should begin charging a cancellation fee. That will take care of most of the scalpers.

Please no! The flexibility of canceling if you're short on funds or change your mind is one of the biggest upsides of ordering direct from SSC. I think it's enough that canceling flexpay orders incurs a fee.

I have to agree with you.

This will help reduce the edition size. Instead of 1000 size just because 60% are probably scalpers....they could be releasing 500 size. This should increase the value of each statue.

If someone can't afford it or undecided, then don't pre-order it. Or else pay a small cancellation fees.

Yep... the current SS policy is what draws a lot of customers. SS SW doesn't bring in the scalpers like you might think. Plus if you think a Cancellation fee will stop Scalpers, you are wrong... in fact they will be on that list (because the ES will (might)be down) and sell for even more. This way everyone one wants one gets a chance... before scalping.

Luke/Yoda is really the only Star Wars PF they've been sitting on forever--even Boba Fett is sold out.

Thats why I hope they dont make another Luke in PF, some people have been hoping for one, but please no. To many other characters to be made. I'm still hoping to find the speeder scout at a good deal, but no hurry.

I have to admit that this is a good point creature...

I agree. The market is not going to change because of a cancellation fee. The responsibility pretty much lies on both parties: the collectors to make sure they are there when the newsletter is up (or the PPO is offered) to get their limited edition collectibles and Sideshow for setting realistic exclusive LIMITED edition sizes depending on the popularity of the item.

It's definitely easier said than done as Sideshow is in the business to sell as many items as possible to make producing this stuff worth their while. I am sure Sideshow can figure it out. As it stands now on ebay, the market can't support high ES collectibles. No matter how cool something looks there is always something cooler on the horizon. Having a high ES on something just assures that it gets put on the "to get later..." pile that we all have in our collector minds.

If it wasn't for the no cancellation fee, then I wouldn't have bother putting my name on the pre-order list. I'm pretty sure it will discourage others as well. Until then, i'll continue to pre-order with no intent of buying it at the end until I know the ES is low. I'm not complaining...playing what's being provided by Sideshow.

Yeah, one reason I preorder stuff is because I know that if I can't get the money I can easily cancel without a problem.

Although I didn't order this one anyway, it's nice and all but I don't really want it.

I wonder what the chances are that she'll have a wrinkle-free, skin-tight costume on this one. It makes sense on the 1:6 because she needs a little slack to be able to move, but since the 1:4 is static, I hope they treat it as such.

Doesn't SS currently charge your CC $20 if you cancel an order using flexpay before the first payment?

I really disagree with you MinMay cause this is just unfair, Sideshow offers this chance to collectors but one doesn't have to order stuff just to see If the edition size is low, this way it will never be low, I mean If people are not so interested in an item they just shouldn't order it... by saying "I preorder with no intent of buying..." you are increasing the edition size.

They'll surely fix it, she is still in the prototype stage.

I would like to see a cancelation policy. Its simple though, you either want it or you dont. Its funny that the edition size is the selling point. "If the edition is low I'll keep it", SS should get a base and put dog crap on it, and label it Anakins terd, limited to only 15, I'm sure it would sell out.

I have no doubts that my wait list will convert, once all the speculators butt out of the way.

I never quite understood that mentality either. I mean I know they do that because they want it to hold (or dare I say increase) in value and not want to see that in 6 months they can get it for 1/2 the price. But if its something you really want then buy it now and if you are on the fence wait and see if it gets cheaper. A lot of times edition size doesn't mean jack anyway.

Another perspective: what about those crazy PPO days when you don't have time to browse pics and you have to order quickly? Sometimes there is no production blog or leaked pics for you to decide on a week in advance.

The edition size is part of what gives all this stuff the name of limited edition collectibles. They are not mass produced dolls. The appeal of owning something rare plays a factor even if we like to think it does not. It's all part of the collecting experience. Look at all the threads about the faux bronze pieces. Those statues may not look as good as the color version but there is a certain prestige of owning something limited. Even if some of it doesn't look that great. Those bronze threads are not all about keeping track or just for fun. In a way its about bragging rights. Nothing wrong with that but it does help illustrate my point.
