Well, I managed to stay away from this line, but went and pre ordered this guy and Legolas. I'll get Marry and Pippin now as well I suppose.

Stunning ! I hope the in box version will match the prototype. Congratulation Asmus for the good work. Slim version orderded. I hope Merry and Pippin will get full re-release too so I can order these ones. If Sam and Frodo get as good new headsculpts I will order them too. Poor headsculpt was the only thing that kept me from buying them. Maybe it's time for a new Gandalf the White head too ?
Thank you Asmus for listening to the fans/customers.
:)

It really does look a lot better with rooted hair. I might consider getting the head, and tracking down a full version of the figure from the secondary market. The slim version's lack of the bow and quiver is discouraging me from buying that.

Makes me glad I kept that old Sideshow figure. I will just use the bow from that.

i got the figure off a fellow freak a while ago! just ordered the upgrade head!! i have a couple of sideshow aragorns... if folks want parts lemme know via PM and i'll see what i have!!

So what is missing in the Slim Aragorn from the reg (deluxe)? Can anyone confirm this:

Not in Slim:

Bedroll pack
Quiver
Arrows
Bow
2nd screaming head
Base

Is there anything else not included in the slim...? Green gem in the ring? Arwen's necklace?

Wow, I jumped on the Asmus train at the perfect time!

I’ve always kept my eye on this line’s progress, but because of all the same issues that many others here have with these figures, I was never able to bring myself to commit. But after meeting Andy and the crew at NYCC (who are all super cool), and seeing their stuff in person, my interest really started growing. Still being reluctant and taking too long mulling it all over since Comic Con made me miss out on the great deal BBTS had for the Nazgul & Steed and Aragorn. I’m kicking myself for that because I had to go get them at a premium, but I did end up managing to score most of the other releases from the OT for retail or less.

It started when I was away on vacation a couple months ago where I checked out a collectible shop and came across a sealed Witch King for a very reasonable price (considering). That set me off on a research tear and finally I decided to go all in. This week I received a used Nazgul (eBay) and Steed (fellow Freak), all 4 Hobbits and another Nazgul and Steed (all MISB from a retailer) and Aragorn (MISB from eBay). I used that $30 SSC coupon and got Slim Saruman, and I’m gonna snag a full version Saruman. Just ordered Gandalf and Grishnakh yesterday.

I haven’t even gotten to open anything aside from the used Ringwraith & Steed yet, and I came across this great news of upgrades and expansion packs yesterday. Definitely ordering the haired sculpt and can’t wait for Merry & Pipin’s!!

Tons of respect for Asmus’s dedication to improve their products and devotion to their fans and supporters!!

Please do this with other figures, starting with Gandalf the White.

Personally I’d love to see them do a GTW 2.0. Complete top to bottom overhaul.

I think GTG is fantastic from the neck down, but an improved sculpt with a stronger likeness, less age and wrinkles, and maybe even a bit more hair would perfect that set.

For me, the perfect Gandalf the White expansion pack would include a new sculpt (with hair), an accurate white vest and a full set of those great sculpted hands they made for Gandalf the Grey. (The original GtW has generic hands.)

And I will say it again: I would be more than happy to pay for that.

I know they promised to replace the head for free back in the day, but never mind all that. If they're willing to put the time and resources into upgrading the figure, I'm very willing to support that.

I have ordered every figure they have offered on their site but only the first one with an account. They never would let me reset my password. What they do is send you PayPal invoice when the rest is due and you pay it then. You should be fine.
Aha, sweet! I'll be ordering directly from Asmus a lot more now!

Totally agree with you.

I don't know what's missing but the boots look different. Are they sculpted?

Yes,
apart from the traveling gears and the arrow/bow set, the boots are also switched to sculpted.
All in order to keep down the cost for the hair and keeping the set in a good price.

It would be great to know if you are going to be offering more heads with rooted hair because it would save me on sending these out to the secondary and paying quite a bit. I have no problem with haired heads being offered as premium upgrades as long as they look good. I'd definitely pick up a GtG and GtW with rooted hair and beard. Is it confirmed that the original prototype GtW head is finally being released?
