Yep. Sad really, I thought February was gonna be my GOAT Evil Dead month with the Luxury figure and video game but alas.

Its one thing that they obviously cut corners and all that but one of my main complaints is how Asmus initially responded and intentionally tried to deceive with the “prototype as final” pictures. I’d like to think the reaction wouldn’t of been as big as it was without the latter but as soon as the final pics started floating around social media, everyone else jumped to the same disappointed reaction.

Also I had no idea they were producing more than the 666 units for the Luxury edition. I feel if they had stuck to that number maybe they could of had some degree of quality control but they well and truly whiffed this release and did more harm to their reputation now than anything.

Their response to the 666 edition size was a bit hazy. It could a language barrier but I kind of got the sense that they said yes there are more than 666, but that it was still 666.:dunnoI think they thought that was a cute number considering it was Evil Dead and figured they would be lucky to get that many orders. When the 666 orders sold through they saw the potential for more money. Which is fine, but maintain some QC.

Yeah I can see they were only offering that many units via themselves and Sideshow but when you see KGHobby and more were all offering them that 666 must of been bogus. Who knows though. I’d just assume a specific number would of been more controlled for QC purposes but here we are. lol

Thanks, karamazov.

One point though, Dave isn't the current owner.

Asmus are a Lifetime Premium Member, but not a Sponsor.

Regardless of status it's about maintaining a good environment, as karamazov wrote.

Individuals and companies are afforded the same respect. Companies are comprised of individuals, and I'd imagine collectable companies are generally relatively small compared to the big faceless giants of other industries. As under Dave's ownership the forum welcomes companies to the board so they can engage with its members. We don't want members to create such a hostile or vindictive atmosphere whereby companies are discouraged from engaging at all, possibly making resolutions to any issues less forthcoming.

Doesn't mean you can't be critical, but criticism is best delivered in a measured manner.

Hopefully Asmus will continue to respond, and continue to make right the errors made with this set.
Apologies for going off topic for a second, but who's the current owner then? Is there a thread explaining the current ownership of the site and the change of name? I would appreciate the info as it's never been clear to me, thanks!

I dont know about Dave but rumor had it at the time sideshow wanted to distance themselves from the site. Either that or they took issue with the site using sideshows name.

I don't really know the details, but do you remembers years ago that there was a movement from Sideshow to ban all the customizing threads? You can't sell that stuff in here anymore because of the new Sideshow policy. Back then, this site known as Sideshow Freaks. The founder said the name has nothing to do with Sideshow Company. I guess we like to call our collections as "sideshow". But the site have some kind of partnership, like showing the ads from Sideshow, and referral links on the site. So the site gets revenue from Sideshow too. Because of the new policy, Dave maintains the site, trying to make the customizing threads alive, but we already know it won't be for long. In the middle of this, someone created Custom One Sixth site. The base is from the custom threads, they move it on to the new site. The custom thread on Sideshow Freaks had revenue from the member. With the thread gone, and the partnership with Sideshow gone, now you're seeing random ads in this site. And they want to rebrand I guess, so now it really has nothing to do with Sideshow. After that, the logo on the site changes but the address still sideshowcollectors. But now the logo and the address changes to Collector Freaks.

I remember there was a time where threads about unlicensed or third party figures were frowned upon and either deleted or closed, which is why generally you'd continue a conversation in a related licensed thread. Lol

Anyways, I don't know if the user is here but this was in one of the FB groups and is about the only decent shot I've seen.

Based on what has been said about Arwen I would say they know exactly how this feels.
Well in Arwen's case, they took only a small hit.
Because the level of disappointment is not as huge as this.

Arwen the luxury edition is missing an artbox, comes in a dull brown shipper box that is slapped with tiny sticker, while the regular edition has a nice artbox.
And they charge extra cost for shipping despite the free shipping agreement in preorder.
The likeness, even though is far from perfect, is actually better than their previous attempt.
A member is missing several accessories and had a hard time getting a response from asmus.
Another member is missing set of extra arms, only to have a replacement that is not supposed to be for Arwen. The set of replacement hands has different, cheaper material, and when the member confront asmus about it, they said to just accept it.

Those are the issues of Arwen Luxury edition, which is very very minuscule compared to this Ash, as the issues with this release is so many, and it caused a surge of protests and cancellation, which is a big hit.

So asmus didn't take a lot of hit with Arwen, and even here in this very forum, Arwen thread is crowded with members that defended asmus relentlessly, so even though there are some of us who voiced our protest there, those who praised and defended asmus has the bigger voice.

I even got targeted because I said that asmus is a shady and unethical company. One member even still chase me to this thread because I said that. Yes, @RiggsMcClane, that was my history with that particular member, is because I said asmus is a shady and unethical company, in the Arwen thread.

But karma did the job, I didn't have to do a lot of work proving what I said. They eventually show their own true colors, from this release.
We can see it ourself how they lied with the prototype pics, how they said that it's only random hairless henrietta released out there, how they cut corners with the body and paint, lying about the edition size.. etc.
And all those are shady, and unethical.

Despite all that, we still try to communicate with asmus' rep here, trying to figure out what happened, and how to solve it. Are there any ways that @Asmus can do to at least fix this, even just the slightest.. We still open the door for them to do the right thing.

But they never show up again.

Really highlights the difference in tailoring!

I'm with the member who says this needs a hundred dollar drop in price to even make it worthwhile. I'm not even sure it'd be worth it then. Thing is, this will never happen unless the secondary market is pretty rough for the release.

The Sideshow one looks amazing in comparison. So much more personality and intent in the eyes due to them appearing to be focused on something ahead. The pupils in the Asmus one don't even look aligned in most pictures and seem to point slightly outwards and upwards, making him look vacant.
