Clearly they read this thread and can see the dissatisfaction. The trick for them will be to minimize their costs to "solve" this problem, assuming they decide it is their problem.

I got mine today too, same paint very disappointed.
It’s a shame as the sculpt is fantastic, and so is the new Sting (cloak, not so much but that wasn’t a big incentive for me)
If it was just a different take on the paint I could accept the ‘new paint scheme’ but when the eyes are just flat out the wrong colour, something has definitely gone wrong somewhere in the production...

Well, they only had two sets left and I didn't want to take any chances. Worst case scenario is that I have to return them but you seemed pretty confident in recommending them. I wonder if they'll actually send me pics from my actual set or just use the same ones they sent you.

Update: pics received. They say they double checked all the ones they have to ensure that Frodo has blue eyes so buy with confidence. View attachment 410629View attachment 410631

And those pictures confirm that sam is almost identical to the first slim batch... eyes seems identical and the skin tone is comparable... it's frodo that hS all the problems.

Mmm i don't think that they will try to solve that... they will simply state that this is the new improved paint apps and that you have to be happy with it... in an ideal world they should produce a new batch of head for frodo and send these free to all people which has ordered the exansion pack and the new slilm.. unfortunately this will not happen... we have a lot of example of doll which were put on preorder with an excellent paint job but the real head shown a worster one... 3zero jon snow and daenerys, blitzway ghostbusters etc etc... a lot of complain and what has happened? Nothing... i don't think this case will be different. People wich are not satisfied with the new painting should try to move quickly and find last remaining first batch on the market... or reconcile himself to live with the new paint job... i know myself... and i prefer to spent new money for a good frodo instead of live with an inferior version

Pretty much agree with this. Don’t see anything happening even though Asmus should replace all these heads. If you can’t repaint or aren’t willing to pay someone to repaint, best bet would be to grab first batch Slims. Fingers crossed Asmus does the right thing, but companies these days rarely seem to that route.

Frodo with greenish eyes is disappointing to me, but the head sculpt is on this one is so much better than the 1.0 version, that my disappointment is tempered a bit. However giving Sam electric blue eyes when Sean Astin's are actually brown (or hazel) actually bothers me more. It's so inaccurate that I think it kind of wrecks the overall likeness.

Clearly the heads got mixed up in the factory. They've obviously got each other's eyes.

“F looks good but change S to brown/hazel eyes instead of blue.”

Still doesn’t explain why the face would become so pale and hair poorly painted. A different factory’s quality?

This is an old picture of my v1 frodo... it clearly demontrates that v1 frodo has the same brown star than the second slim run... it seems that they have used again the same old decals... very strange

The eyes are not the same. The bright blue iris in the original is not present in the new Slim v2/expansion set.

Glad the new head sculpts have much better likenesses overall. It's such a shame that this whole Frodo debacle has left a bad taste in my mouth. I was so excited about Gimli, and still look forward to it. But Asmus have really disappointed me with what they've done with Frodo. If they had jus stuck with what they did in the early Slim batches, they'd have a whole bunch of fans happy, and rearing to go with Gimli to sing their praises. Now not so much.

Frodo really sticks out as oddly pale... with the missing skin tone (or at least the rosy cheeks),

And does EVERY Hobbit have blue eyes except Frodo?
