I've been doing researching and I can't find anything that tells me what will happen if we don't renew it.

I might be wrong.. but I don't think it does. Because you're an American Citizen. That thing (as far as I can tell) has to do with Puerto Rican born people who are now living in the U.S. with "Permanent Resident" status i.e. not U.S. Citizens. So again.. I think you're not included in this Bam.
