Re: AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR - (April 27, 2018)

This movie truly looks epic beyond words.

Is this story really in a huge budget movie.

There's articles around where the Russos talk about how they ALWAYS start with the story. That the writers try to write themselves into a corner and the Russos and a few people sit around and work the story. Just a few people around a table with character cards.

IMO a key reason why the Russos have been successful. Another is that they are comic book fans and love the material. Also I think they want to tell a good story with nods to the comics (like Gamora snapping her fingers as Thanos does that in comix) without agenda e.g. Whedon or BP stuff.

Re: AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR - (April 27, 2018)

Whedon did great with the original Avengers, Ultron seems like it was a film caught in the middle between studio and director, which never ends as good as it can. I don't think the Russos produce bad films, but I haven't found theirs to stand out necessarily from the rest of the MCU, they're among the highs, but there are other highs right along side them.

Re: AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR - (April 27, 2018)

I was never wowed by any avengers movie. The first one was good but it wasn’t this spectacular comic book movie that people said it was. Ultron is ruined by its lame main villain but the effects were great and the action was awesome.
Civil war I think is better than ultron.

This movie looks really great tone wise and visual wise. Instead of fighting in a city with grey robots/aliens. We are fighting in an alien planet and fighting against this venom looking creatures

Re: AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR - (April 27, 2018)

For me, what makes Avengers really stand out is that it was one of few films at the time to have so many marquee characters and balance their story and screen time so well, it could have been Spider-Man 3, but it wasn’t. Is the story and all that the most amazing and compelling, no, at the heart it’s a fun popcorn movie handled well, where other comic films have had deeper story.

Re: AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR - (April 27, 2018)

Maybe cause the only characters I liked were iron man and cap but to me it wasn't all that but you are right it could of been spidey 3 and it wasn't it goes to show that with great build up you can do amazing things. Not rush into it like an ***** to catch the wave. It seems like the monsterverse with Godzilla and kong understand that it takes time to develop a universe.

I just can't wait to see what marvel can do balancing out characters like Xmen and FF and growing the avengers team further.

Re: AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR - (April 27, 2018)

Avengers 1 is still the single greatest experience ive had at the cinema for a cbm. AoU definitely didn’t live up to it. But for me still enjoyable. I got a good feeling this will change with IW.

Batman 1989 it still tops for me. The hype and commercial backing for it was unreal for the time.

Re: AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR - (April 27, 2018)

The trailers for IW featuring Thor and the GotG so far are better than the wholes of AoU, CW, and GotG2.

Re: AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR - (April 27, 2018)

Maybe I'm setting the bar a bit too high, but I fully expect Infinity War to be the best that the MCU has offered so far. I may even be a bit disappointed if it isn't.

Don’t forget that the Russo’s have a great eye towards action set pieces truly passionate those 2 are in transitioning from comics to screen in a way that is exhilarating to experience, they’re what Zack Snyder would be like if he was well rounded.

I don’t even need a 3rd movie from the Russo’s to convince me of that, their talents are already plainly obvious just from their 2 offerings plus this IW trailer.

Look at HB simply standing up in the trailer being given forward momentum by having the Falcon/WM flyby taking place in the background.

Look at the outrider hoard taking down the HB in the trailer you can see the gravity at work and feel the weight of that one simple action very kinetic.

Look at BP simply putting his helmet mask on being supported with inertia from the background army.

They’re good lol

Regarding agenda it was impossible for BP not to have one the movie is historic for many reasons even though Wakanda has existed in the comics for decades.

Crows was always 100% right (sorry Wez/ Chakor love you anyways lol) the movie made over a billion BECAUSE OF THE AGENDA, BECAUSE OF THE POLITICS, Marvel KNEW that was going to happen that was their plan all along!

Marvel WANTED the agenda being front and center so one wouldn’t be able to discuss the movie WITHOUT the agenda being involved in the discussion. Marvel WANTED the controversy they benefitted from the controversy they needed the conversation to be about race AT ALL TIMES.

Good for them everyone won.

I got an ok movie but the intended audience got a huge budget all black cast MCU movie earning more domestic than any white lead MCU movie and good for them it was way overdue anyways but in a way this was the perfect time for it. I’m happy that it was an MCU superhero movie that will be in the cinematic history books as being ground breaking perfect fit for Marvel’s historic past from the comics.

Now that it’s out of everyones system now lets let these wonderful characters coexist in IW and concentrate on what’s really important saving humanity.

Still love that quad attack on Ultron during the climax.

Outrider look vicious much better than the Chitauri (more like Sheetauri lol)

Avengers holds up very well especially in 3D.

Yeah that was pretty spectacular still vividly remember it all. It was HUGE!

I still love Avengers 1. I wouldn't change anything except Cap's outfit.

Well, people like me who wanted 10-15 minutes of some Avenger integration and/or thought some interaction with Cap and/or Bucky; or who didn't really need to hear the agenda stuff ('coz they hear about it every day more or less in the media); or just wanted an actual slow ratcheting tension leading to IW lost big time:(.

I don't know what Marvel knew:dunno tho they have media people. Coogler said Marvel actually was pretty hands off and he got to tell his story his way.

For me water under the bridge because IMO there was opportunity and Coogler wanted to do his thing:pfft:. So did Waititi, really, but I was depending on Coogler phhhhttt:crying. So I've got this nice friend who's black and we were talking yesterday and it was kinda hilarious 'coz her boyfriend had dragged her to BP and she complained that "she didn't get it and how boring it was and she fell asleep."

So I carefully explained, depending:cool:, she should give it another chance and that some - not all - had complained about the first 45 minutes but she ought to give it another try. 'Coz I'm nice like that LOL:lol bein' fair and diplomatic and all:monkey3 even if the BP CGI is ****

ANYWAY. I just used the money I didn't spend on BP to help buy the Hasbro Infinity War glove.:joy

BTW assume everyone saw the new posters but:

Re: AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR - (April 27, 2018)

I’m glad cap and Bucky were cut out of black panther aswell as all the other avengers stuff. Give new characters time to breath before putting all the other crap in there. That’s what made iron man so good. It was it’s own story.

I probably would have watched it a second time if it had them in it.

Spiderman had Iron man it could have been cool if BP had Cap.
